My smoking rate is pretty low, and I’ve enjoyed trying a bunch of different blends. That has resulted in about 80 open tins in jars in a basement cabinet. Needless to say, I sometimes forget what certain blends taste like, but I always remember about how much I liked them.

Today I revisited C&D Oriental Silk, which I remember as liking quite a bit. As usual, I completely forgot the details, and am very happy to be reminded of the tangy fruitiness of this blend. Great stuff

Never had it myself, but I can certainly identify with the pros and cons of having a preponderance of jarred blends on hand! I'm about halfway there, somewhere in the neighborhood of 40, so while it's still a quandary at times having that many around (not to mention an enormous deterrent to the idea of cracking any more tins at this stage), I do feel a little better about it!

Last time I dug into something I completely forgot about was back in the wintertime. Pulled out a couple 16 oz. jars, both Peterson blends--Sherlock Holmes and Irish Whiskey. SH was the first non-aromatic I ever tried, and I was pleasantly surprised by how extremely mellow and sweet it was, more so that I remember. I forgot how much of a nic-hit IW packed, so that one was a little rougher, but there's a time and a place for a nice hearty VaBur like that. Both good smokes indeed.

Always try to keep it under 10. Beyond that I run into some issues. I don't label my jars, so if there are too many, I'll forget what they are. Then there is an issue about which ones I prefer. Sometimes, have to open few jars to identify and decide which one to smoke. 10 seems to keep me busy, but not too frustrated.

I have 24 blends (22 pictured and two more in my desk at work) jarred that I smoke from, which is everything. No real cellar here, but I'm only a year in always trying new stuff out. I label the replaceable lids and keep a pack of new lids. When I finish a blend I save the labeled lid to know what I've smoked and clean the jar for a new one. So far I smoke slower than I purchase.

I’m glad that works for you and I would never yuck your yum, and no one asked me, but that’s nightmare fuel to me.

Now that we live in WI and it's humid, I probably have about 50 open. When we lived in the southwest I tried to keep it down to about 10 or they dried out before I could finish them. I like the variety and trying lots of new (to me) blends, but always seem to rotate through about 8 or so at a time going back to the same ones even after trying a new one.

I have more than 80 . . .

Most are in 1/2 pint jars. I really need to get rid of the ones I don't like.

I'm always trying new blends and the rate at which I'm opening tins exceeds the rate at which I'm finishing them. What I've been doing is emptying half-finished jars of my less favoured blends and sealing them in mylar. Figure I'll throw 'em in a box and get back to them eventually. I've got a rotation of 36 jars going and that's more than enough to keep the palate interested.

Hmm i have a few i smoke from … i was too lazy to do a good job labeling so paper tape it is, there are 2 or 3 mystery jars as well.

I can't tell you how encouraging this pic is! I have maybe 10 or 15 tins opened and jarred because I only smoke maybe four or five bowls a week, but I always want to try to the new arrivals. Now I can open tons more!
