I'm a new pipe smoker from cigars and RYO.
I've tried a bunch of them bulk aromatics, to be honest with you,,, they mostly stink up the area and have a foul taste. May have just had bad luck. I did try a Peter Stokkebye oriental english. I loved the smell, the flavor.

So whats a couple of good mild to bold English or nonaromatic blends? I know it's subjective to each but lol, there is so many different tobacco brands out there.

Thanks

one of my favorites is Asthton Consumate Gentleman. I haven't smoked a lot of Englishes but that one I go through the tin pretty much straight and not smoking much else until it's gone. It seems like one a cigar smoker would love. But in general trying any mild English will most likely please you. There are also cross over blends. English but with an aromatic touch. Like Kramers Cary Grant blend which is amazing and Edward G Robinson is not quite English but also really great and mildly aromatic. I'd say go to tobacco reviews or Smoking pipes and use the search function for English read what people say and buy one or two that reading about starts the salivation.

I have just seen the review area and been reading a few. I'll blame my bad eyes for missing it :)
Thanks for the suggestions.
In my opinion there are more good tobaccos then not. The trick is finding the ones you find really good. Also I noticed you said in another post you like rum well a lot of navy cut coins and flakes have rum on them. The thing is they don't always say if they do or don't but there are a few that tell you they have rum topping and trust me they're delicious though rum on pipe tobacco doesn't taste quite like it does in a glass. But another style to keep in mind after you try to find your favorite English blends.

I’ll second the recommendation on Billy Budd. As another cigar-loving convert to pipe smoking, I think it hits a very sweet spot. Give it a shot and see what you think.
I just ordered 4 tins of that, sounds perfectly good. And I kinda wanted to try this Dunhill - Nightcap or whatever it's named now.
Thanks all.

For a new pipe smoker you're coming across a little judgemental about aromatics.
The bulk blends that are RYO thinly disguised as aromatics do suck however. Try some of the light aromatic bulk blends, you may find that they are pretty good.

For bulk Englishes:
Arango Balkan Supreme
Sutliff Balkan Sobranie 759 Match
Sutliff Balkan Sobranie Original Match
C&D Bayou Night*

For bulk Burley blends:
C&D Haunted Bookshop*
C&D Old Joe Krantz*
Sutliff Chatham Manor
D&R Two Timer

For bulk Virginia/Perique blends:
Sutliff Elizabethan/Victorian Match
D&R Rimboche (both the AP and SJ versions are great)
C&D Bayou Morning*

For bulk straight Virginia blends:
D&R Penhooker
C&D Derringer
C&D Yorktown

For other bulks that I think you’d appreciate coming from cigars (I did the same thing):
C&D Billy Budd
C&D Habana Daydream

I put an asterisk next to the ones that have a little more nicotine, in case that’s important.

You might some of GL Pease's offerings. The ones that are flavored are lightly done and very good. Windjammer comes to mind. If you like strong Burley, I can't recommend Cornell and Diehl's Burley Flake series enough. Burley Flake #4 is slightly flavored and excellent, and #5 has Latakia in it so that might scratch your English itch, but with some added strength from the Burley.
