For a new pipe smoker you're coming across a little judgemental about aromatics.
The bulk blends that are RYO thinly disguised as aromatics do suck however. Try some of the light aromatic bulk blends, you may find that they are pretty good.

I've tried 4-5 aromatics mostly
Lanes I didn't care for the flavor, wasn't anything I'd ever roll up.
I'll probably come across a few in time.

Overwhelming, yes? Expensive too. Unfortunately, you’ll have to experience a lot of MEH before you stumble upon the eye opener, the memorable smoke(s) where all is right with the world.

My advice, before you jump into the world of boutique blends only to find out years later that you’ve overlooked your favorite because you’ve dismissed it —- the old tyme blends that have been in existence for 100 years…. there’s a reason they’re still here.

What turned me away from aromatic blends was the store I ordered from. I just received 2 oz of the same Sutliff rum&maple from Smoking pipes. OMG it is not the same as before
My 1st order was so wet, I could ring it out and it would be 1/2 the weight or more. Took a week (very humid here) to dry it out so I could try it. The flavor was gone, it tasted like washed-out bland tobacco.
I just smoked a half bowl of today's delivery, and it was flavorful and nice. I still prefer the English blend, but am finding out where you order from matters.

lol, now I have 8 others to try.

most lane aromatics are kind of meh and generic. There many better more interesting aros out there.
