Somewhat of an update here guys.
I was moving the cob around and the bottom of the bowl felt, soft. I peeled back a bit of the sticker and found to my surprise the bottom of the bowl has a hole in it.
I still think a cob is pretty solid. I can't imagine how this would happen during normal use, but if it did I think you could plug it with a piece of dowel and some pipe mud.

Ooooo, it's a'ight. Just a little Elmer's glue and it will be back to par.
I prefer the more piquant notes of Titebond to Elmer’s, but to each his own.
I had a cob like that with the hole in the bottom. Thank the good o'l guy up above for that pipe, because it helped me turn a cob with a hole, into a cob without a hole. I've never stopped fixing pipes sense then.
