I used to have hair down to my waist for a good 10 years, then decided to have it cut, then grow out again, then had to do military service so I got a buzz cut (best hair ever, actually, no need for any care), then got a formal presentation requiring job and got married. Once I floated the idea of growing my hair out again my wife couldn't stop laughing for 10 minutes straight.

Shaggy hair when I started dating the wife. Pony tail down to my mid back untill a few months before the wedding ....donated to "Wigs for Kids" foundation.

Now it's been buzzed for years. I get my haircuts cheap. But my stylist is beautiful, and lets me hold her hand sometimes.

I worked on an airport pumping jet fuel when I was a younger lad. My buddy tapped me on the shoulder one day to check out this lovely lady that stepped off a private airplane. She was tall, wore tight leather pants, and had a long, beautiful mane of black hair blowing in the wind. When she turned around, it was Steven Tyler from Aerosmith. Dude really did look like a lady. Let’s just say I’m a lot more careful these days.

I had long hair until 2006. Half way down my back. I cut it off when I went into Engineering consulting to Cosmic's point.
So the story goes that my two oldest sons told their mother they wanted to grow their hair out. She was against it. I told her to pick her battles, at least they're not asking for tattoos or face piercings. Hair can be cut but tats are forever. I'm not against tattoos but they were too young and immature.

Tattoos are so common nowadays they lost all their shock value which seemed to be partially the point for getting them in the first place. Not that I have any.
