I enjoy LJP’s No. 8 Slices and London Flake, so as I begin drifting towards winter Burleys, I decided to try five 2 oz. burley samples. The winner will see a 1 lb order.

“Cuban Mixture”- one I’ve tried before and really liked. LJP calls it their oldest blend, made with 7 components.

“No. 52“-Burley, Red Virginia and an Israeli aromatic tobacco used in cigarettes, Dubek.

“333“- Described as “heavy, but cool.” I have a few friends I would describe the same way. And I must add that LJP also has an old school “cool” vibe.

“W“- sweet, nutty with a touch of spice.

“No Name”- humbly described by this great tobacconist as “the world’s finest aromatic“ pipe tobacco. We shall see.

Anyone have a favorite of these 5?IMG_8580.jpeg

I've smoked "W", "333" and "No Name. No Name is my favorite, better buckle up for that one😁If you find you like " No Name" you may want to try "Original Mixture" Actually I've tried them all that you selected but these three stand out.

Since Sutliff went out I'm concerned about their cube cuts. If they have to rely on C&D, they're only going to get square cut ribbon. I don't think they make a traditional cube cut. I'm interested to see how they proceed. The last cube cut I got from C&D was pretty disappointing. Sutliff burley cube cut was a staple, should have gotten waaaaay more.

Did you ask for spare labels and then cut, and fill the info out yourself?

That's the nicest hand writing I've ever seen on a Peretti label!
Yes, I always ask for a few extra paper labels when the blends come in plastic bags and they are always generously supply a few at no charge. That’s the first time in 67 years anyone’s ever complimented my penmanship, but I guess in comparison it is a bit nicer than….

I like both 333 and W, I agree the latter has an interesting, almost chile-like spice note. I sometimes appreciate DD and 102, despite the LJP topping that comes across to me like an American style of Lakeland floral essence. B-94 may be a bit of an under-the-radar blend, it's got a dry spicy note similar to W, but it also has Black Cav with a rum topping, which may not be what you're looking for?
