I love it! This is turning into a very, very entertaining thread. But, I see a trestle is down and we're at speed. Love a good train wreck! All I can do is wait, enjoy a bit of port and wait.
might not seem quite what you're complaining about. But when I worked in the medical field one of the really annoying things was the EHS electronic health systems a.k.a. the computer programs we used. The administration would buy them and the salesmen would show these people that never had to use them all the bells and whistles and those would be the ones they buy... Not once did anyone talk to the people in billing or the doctors about the systems. And they'd be fancy but the most annoying things to work with. Everyone who had to use them hated the way they were set up. But the people who hold the purse strings...On recent hospital and hospital owned practice visits the receptionists asked many questions about mental health ... they laughed when I told them I wasn't a politician and don't have those issues but it was still a bit disconcerting and obvious someone was doing a survey/study/database for nefarious purposes. I trust my doctors but not the institutions for whom they work where major decisions seem to be made by people who have no idea about medicine or medical treatment. As for smoking they only seem to be concerned with and note cigarette usage not cigars or pipes.
Honestly you seem too stubborn to die that young. You might think I am joking but actually one of the personality types that goes along with longevity seems to be your personality type (at least what you show here, and you seem like the kind of guy that's not going to be that different in person). So far, I can personally attest to 77 years. Chances of seeing 80? Most likely remote.
Cosmic, you might need to brush your teeth a little bit more often mate!!!!Yeh, we know from skulls that the clay pipes will abrade away a notch in the teeth, from the abrasive nature of unfinished clay.
Yeh, I think that I can decide whether smoking a pipe is causing me health problems without the doctor knowing, and apparently putting me on some sort of list. My dentist though is my first line of defence for mouth cancer, which is one of the issues that pipe smokers should be aware of. My dentist is a Dunhill enthusiast, and understands pipesmoker's concerns about insurance, so I am completely honest with him.
He also is very discreet about removing bullets and stitching up knife wounds... I'm kidding, haha.

@cosmicfolklore That won't happen to me as I never clench my clay pipes!Yeh, we know from skulls that the clay pipes will abrade away a notch in the teeth, from the abrasive nature of unfinished clay.

I was told INTP whatever the hell that means.I was diagnosed as a Type A by the department shrink, many, many years ago.
He's 10+ years older than anyone in my immediate family that passed of natural causes.that young.
Like a philosopher, deep thinker, focused mind ---- "A Logician (INTP) is someone with the Introverted, Intuitive, Thinking, and Prospecting personality traits. These flexible thinkers enjoy taking an unconventional approach to many aspects of life. They often seek out unlikely paths, mixing willingness to experiment with personal creativity." ie: Large Ornate Meerschaums !!I was told INTP whatever the hell that means.
Dentist(retired!) Clay pipes wear a space over time. Other types of stem act rather like an orthodontic brace and move teeth. Often upper teeth forward and lowers backwards. In line with forces. It actually takes very little force to move teeth if applied over timeWhile that is true, the firmness in the teeth will change your bite just as a dental appliance would. This affect is minimal, but the more you have a bit in your mouth and the harder you bite will determine the effect. Any dentists out there??

Type A and type B has a shady history. The idea was literally funded by cigarette companies to muddy the waters. It's not the using your lungs like the well of a system pipe to collect tars and filling your blood with carbon monoxide, it's your personality and your personality is set and doesn't evolve and isn't swayed by situations. That way at least some customers would be convinced it's not the cigs that are going to kill them it's their aggressive go getter personality.I was diagnosed as a Type A by the department shrink, many, many years ago. True? Damned if I know. I had to take her word for it. The diagnosis was free so I know what it was worth.
Basically if you boil it down that's how you viewed your self at the time. That personality test is pretty not real but does a good job of confirming how people already see themselves (so the accuracy is dependent on how accurately you already see your self). It's also one of those things where it's been applied to more then it was designed to. Other things like that I.Q. tests where designed not to see how big and strong your brain is but how far along a person is in their education what level of specific stuff has Embers already learned, o.k. that helps us know if he's ready to take this course or that. B.M.I. was designed to measure the health of populations (and wow it works great with that), but it's mostly useless for individuals, I am slightly chubby thing but stuffed with a few too many cookies and my B.M.I. is morbidly obese. The personality test is also like that. Meant to slightly help people see how they look at themselves and give some self help hints, not tell you who you are and also not intended to be a static thing like a Birthday but something that can change over time or situations.I was told INTP whatever the hell that means.

Agree. My medicine was recently held up for three days because the office was electronically faxing the prescription and sent it three times to my pharmacy which was not getting it. Why? The "system" automatically defaults to an online pharmacy which everyone has assigned whether they use it or not. If you don't check it sends the script there. I couldn't find one person to say that all the technology is better and helping us. Its helping someone though ...might not seem quite what you're complaining about. Personally not too worried about the info that gets collected more worried about the fact that the shareholders are the people that often get to call the shots and decide how things are run.
I took one of those unofficially in a psych class in high school... there were four personality types and combos. The psychologist said he'd been doing this for 25 years and never saw someone test like I did ... a perfect diamond with no one type over another ! Why ? Becuase if you saw the pattern in the questions (sets of four questions each one geared towards a type) and intentionally answered them for what they were looking for then you get a controlled result !!! I was bored and having fun with it. Also they don't want the truth and don't test to real world situations. The next year my class took a Kuder occupational survey and they told us the whole class flunked and had to take it again becuase the results were not acceptable. ??? Apparently we all scored top professional careers the second time around. Answering to the test ??? Probably. I find the best test is doing a job correctly the quickest most efficient way, not necessarily fastest if you are doing it the best way just quickest for best way.Basically if you boil it down that's how you viewed your self at the time. Been there, done that. But doing such means you/J didn't, in fact, take the test, you/I just messed with the test giver. Probably most of us here have done such at least once or twice.I took one of those unofficially in a psych class in high school... t
