MY legend again, the crack just keeps getting bigger, but I kept repairing it. Started to warp the bowl too.

The sad thing is, is that I'd get rid of all my other pipes before my legend. We've been through too much together.

Definitive photo display. Thanks.

I wonder if keeping the pipe from drying out would mitigate? (Someone could try that on a new pipe or two, not one that is already cracked.)
no the problem is actually not letting it rest and getting it too wet.. or allowing it to develop cake.

It's hard to see the cracks, some of the spots are like holes not cracks. I do wonder, what is the cause? I've never allowed any cake in this one.

Is the glue, or putty repair just for looks? Or do these repairs actually help hold the pipe together?

Of course a wet pipe is nasty. But I believe when it dries out over time, and then subject to further drying as it's smoked, that's when cracks happen.

In any event, I doubt anyone is going to monitor his MM to keep it from getting extra dry. Though... come to think of it, Didi has done yeoman's work on pipes....for science!
