Bonehed,

the Swiped Life bit is hilarious!

Bill really played up for full comedic effect his unlit pipe,

that troupe of comedians had such a wonderful chemistry,

thanks for the pointer!

"Let's Make Fun of Dunhill"
Why?
Like it or not, they are a grand part of pipe-smoking history.
Yeah,

I know.
I just used that thread title as parodic descriptor of what lay beneath the clicking, and sort of paying homage to the numerous and endless Dunhill "flame threads" which exist on pipe forums everywhere.
I had just discovered the Milne essay and it brought into focus the fact that such sentiment against the brand has existed almost since the company's very beginnings, and I was rather awestruck with that fact.

:puffy:

Those with that view of Dunhill are more predictable than the crowd who appreciates a Dunhill. They look at them with contempt and then make judgements. I'm a HUGE fan of irony. Snotty about those they wrongly see as snotty. That's irony. Pipe shops have cliques like everywhere else. That's all it is. To see it as a Dunhill thing... That perception says more about you than them.
Funny article though! ;)

Great satire.
I hope I'm not the only one who remembers that joke called, "The Aristocrats."

Since there is no proper aristocratic class in America, it was also called "The Sophisticates." I wonder if the poster knew of this joke when he posted under that name.
It is one of the most foul and disgusting jokes ever. 8O You have been warned !!!
I will not post a link as it may besmirch my good name.
