It is a mega popular pop culture event to trick people into opening links to that song. It is called Rick Rolling...Twice now , & I still don't see how Rick Astley's music video is relates to Karam's request for an argumentative* "popcorn thread".........

I typically don’t engage in any kind of social media. People are terrible behind their screen. It has taken me about a year of lurking and seeing how all you guys act and react to feel comfortable to engage.
I appreciate how welcoming this community is. Theres always a few but not everyone can be awesome

There should be no doubt at all that this is the best forum on the internet. None at all.
I've joined guitar forums, watch forums, and Shortwave radio forums, and none of them match the welcoming, friendly nature of this place and the posters that frequent it. Not a one. It's the reason I keep coming back here even though I very rarely get to enjoy a pipe anymore.
The generosity of people here is incredible. Even a cursory glance at any random Secret Santa thread will prove this.

You know your ass is behind the times when you learn about rickrolling (that has been going on for 15+ years) on a pipe forum.
I WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree with this! There have been times where members here have been so kind and generous with their time, pipes, and tobaccos. Many people in need have been helped out with knowledge and kindness over the years. Kevin really should be amazingly proud of what he has created.
Is it perfect? Hell, what is? But the awesome mightily outweighs the assholes here and it is a welcoming and wonderful community.
This is the only forum I keep in touch with, salty curmudgeons and all...

My pipe smoking journey certainly wouldn’t have turned out how it has without all of the contributions from all members across the history of the pipesmagazine forum, past and present. If I’m unsure about something pipe related, I give it a google, and 9/10 I’m directed to a pipesmagazine thread. It might be from 2012, 2017, or 2025. I’m grateful to have access to a forum so rich with useful information on our anachronistic little hobby. Thanks guys for all of your posts, from the lurkers up to the lifers.

I don't get it either - the link opens to a Youtube video from a guy I never heard of.
As for the forum itself. I've made friends all over the mid-Atlantic from NJ up to NYC and now, down South in Louisiana. It's hard to explain to non-forum people (like my wife!)

Tricking people, like you know, ones thinking they are going to be getting some juicy thread full of gossip, into popping a link to a Rick Roll is a fun and popular (everywhere but here, apparently) joke.

Edit: and the frustrating thing about it, is that it relies on people not giving it away. Like saying I don't get it, or actually posting the video... just saying.
