Finally Vilma Amorelli calls this a bent panel Bulldog. It's actual name is penna di San Michele panel bent Bulldog, I'll call it a Sea Urchin. This completes the current Lady Pipe Group.

What is that shape by Anne Julie? I remember your first post with that pipe. That one's beautiful.

She called it a classic tulip, it is far more reserved from her more artistic pipes and when a makers merchandise leans heavily in one area I tend to go in the opposite direction much like I’m not heavily into the Danish Freehand School Nørding was famous for but really like the classic handmade high grades Erik made, yeah I’m odd!

I've been following Sabina Santos since she was coming up in the Facebook pipe community. Chatted with her a couple times. She seems very nice and her pipes are beautiful. If I had been smart I would have grabbed one of her earlier pieces because now I can never afford one!

I've got to fix this situation. Not a single pipe from a female artisan in my collection. I've been looking for the right pipe from Scottie for about a year, stole a hug from Sabina Santos posing as npod, and got to know Silver Grey last week. All make beautiful and innovative pipes that deserve a place in my collection.
I met Silver through Brad Pohlmann. I can't say enough about his work. And such a delightful fellow to boot.

I admire Silver Gray's work, especially the smooth canoes, but I don't own any of her pieces.

Great post, Banjo. I am up to 5 female carvers in my collection. I will get a Silver Grey at the WCPS in October.

And if you ever get the chance to order a copy of "Heroines Of The Pipes", do so without hesitation. It is a great documentary on female carvers.

npod, your group is off the charts! The only way I’d have a pipe by Nanna Ivarsson would be if it fell in my lap from the heavens, I’m glad I have one by her grandfather Sixten I purchased back when I wasn’t retired.

The thread is a good reminder of the many excellent women carvers in this craft. I have no pipes from any, alas. Nor any from Sixten, but I always do remember that he designed several for Stanwell that are still made for "the common man," the non-cylindrical pot for example, sometimes sold as a brushed black or brown, by PC, for $49! The acclaimed designer (though not of pipes) Milton Glazer was a champion of doing industrial design for the general public rather than the prosperous few.
