She looks like she was quite a character, kcghost.

We buried our queen of the house a few months ago.

I'm still expecting to see her in her "usual" spots. My wife forbids me to wash my work jacket covered in her fur and the row of her nose prints on the window at the head of the bed still linger.

Fortunately for your kitty, she had a long and happy life with a caring servant owner. That's all any of us can hope for.

So sorry to hear this. Pets are family, and losing one can hurt just as much as losing a human family member. I know that the two dogs I've lost still feel like profound losses in my life, even years later.

Lady Kat lived a good, long life though, and I hope that is some small comfort. I grew up with a cat also named Kat. I found him under a car as a kitten, abandoned, when I was a middle schooler, and he lived to be 21 before passing away a few years ago.

I am constantly amazed by the gifts that animals give us. A person once asked me, while she was struggling with her sick dog: "why does it hurt so much?" My response (in one of my wisest moments EVER) was: "Pets embody the best qualities of all of the people who are most dear to us, but without any of the worst qualities."

I hear ya, my old Cleo gave me her last nuzzle as she was going under (14 years). Lost Tasha (21) and Marty (13) shortly after. It hurts to lose a friend and I'm still hurting from those. Lady Kat had a great pal in you and had her best times with you. They seem to come and visit us sometimes after they leave us.
