mso, damn you look good for a guy in his 80s. You are in your 80's right? I always pictured you with one foot in the grave and we would lose you at anytime. Tell me we will have you around longer.

Well into the future when mso finally makes 100, and the press comes to ask him his secret, I hope he tells them it was the burley.

Okay, to 'fess up, the photo with Bella was a few years ago, pre-moustach, when we were both more frisky. I'm in my mid-seventies and hope to be around for a decade or two if I'm able. However, if I'm sounding in my eighties, maybe not. Vietnam veterans used to be the young Turks. Now we're the voice of an earlier age. My memories have attained a sort of Disney World aura, fixed up by the turn of time. It's the burley.

Sitting Bear: I'm so sorry about your beloved companion. Cats are amazing animals. 19 years is a long time to be together! Did you get her as a kitten?

I got her when she was seven weeks old. Gave her to the wife as a Xmas present. Best thing I ever gave her.

A startling high proportion of the cats we've had over the decades were the ones who did the adopting. One of them just ran into the house when my wife opened the door to head out on an errand!

I’m sorry to hear that. I’ve been there, and it hurts worse than you’d expect.

20 years ago, a kitten named Bug adopted me out of the blue, and she had me firmly wrapped around her little finger until she died in my arms 12 years later. I was a wreck. A few years later, I got adopted by the stray, semi-feral reincarnation of Attila The Hun, and there are times when I feel like he came into my life because Bug wanted to make sure I had adequate feline supervision from whatever afterlife she’s in.

Cats have the reputation of being aloof and arrogant, but low maintenance, but when they take a liking to you, it is almost the opposite. They can't get enough. They'll be busy being independent and mysterious, and then they'll come and pop up in your lap.
