Mail call! After watching a tour of the L.J. Peretti store on the Virtual Pipe Club, I had to sample some of their fine tobacco! Each sample pack comes with 1 oz samples of four different blends. I'll enjoy these while waiting for my order of the150th anniversary blend... puffy View attachment 70770
Looking forward to your report!

There is a reason that Peretti's has been around since 1870. A great blender of very high quality tobaccos. A trip to the shop in Park Square is well worth it. When you touch the door knob you are in the company of so many pipe smokers of the past both anonymous and very famous indeed. It is a real treasure of the pipe smoking world.
P.S. I don't work there...but I have always secretly wanted to

Peretti makes some of the finest tasting blends I have yet to encounter. The sad part is I have several more of theirs that I've yet to try. Absolutely love the Cuban Mixture which is a pinnacle in my current standard rotation. The strain of Burley that they blend into their recipes is in a class of it's own; some of the best IMO. D9575, Blend DD, Pride of Loch Lomond and Omega all superb blends as well. I always give Peretti a shout-out and rightly so. Great customer service, great product, great history; one of the oldest B&Ms in existence. Next time I'm in Boston, yeah I'm there spending a small fortune.

I've been trying their burley blends, and it's been hit or miss. I stupidly bought a half pound of B-94 before trying it, and I do not like it at all. There's a persistent soapiness in it I can't get away from, so there's about 7 oz. of it sitting in jars I'll never touch (PM me if you wanna trade for it). 101 was OK, but just doesn't appeal to me.

BPC is creeping up on me, though. It wasn't something I tried and immediately knew I'd like. I'm working at it, and slowly I'm starting to get it. To my taste, it's a bit odd, but in a good way. It stands out from the crowd of my dozens of open tins. I've got some plans for blending with it, and I'm looking forward to the experiment.

How would you guys compare 333 to BPC?

I just tried 52 and I liked it. I didn't get any soapy flavor, more like a slightly spicy flavor with a little sweet aftertaste. Had kind of toasty feeling as well. One thing I like about the two of their blends that I've tried so far is that there is no thick aftertaste or heavy smell as compared to some tobaccos that when you're finished you feel, taste, and smell like you've been sitting around a campfire all night.

I tried D9575 last night and it is already one of my favorites! I usually like straight virginias or english blends and this is like a perfect combination of both! A little spicy at the beginning (like an english) with a bit of a sweet undertone, which keeps getting sweeter as you go and finishes like a straight virginia. The end is like roses dipped in honey or molasses or something. No thick aftertaste, but more like a lightly lingering sweet flavor like you would get after finishing a piece of rock candy. As soon as I finished the bowl it had me wanting more!
