Yes, Sinan provides some quality Meerschaums and that is a good looking Pipe! Good for you! On the certificate of authenticity, it will list the Carver, which is a nice touch. I've acquired Pipes from Sinan for years, many of which were special orders, carved to the specifications I provided..., like this one.

Thanks guys! I just finished smoking it for the first time and it's a solid 1.5 hour pipe, down to ash. I'm thoroughly pleased. :D The pipe never got hot or gurgled. My entire thumb fits in the chamber but it's not as wide as you'd expect from a globe that size. That makes it pretty much perfect for me! Any more tobacco than that and Bootleg would have to peel me off the ceiling.
Fred, the carver on this one was Izzet Kirkaya. I love your blowfish meer. It's a gorgeous specimen. Sinan will definitely see more of our money - he's got his stuff together, from the personal note to the certificate, and even down to the packing slip. I always appreciate a professional.

8O 8O 8O 8O :worship: :worship: I think I would possibly trade my car and a kidney for a pipe that looks half as cool as that. I don't so much want to smoke it as I want to pet it and take it to bed with me. I would call it Rupert Sheperdsfield...huh? Oh, sorry. Um...yeah. Its a nice pipe.

Izzet Kirkaya is an experienced Master Carver, who has worked with others in the Meerschaum community for years. Sinan has access to a number of Carvers and will stand by the Pipes he sells. The 2 Snail Blowfish is a Hiroyuki Tokutomi shape that I became enamored of awhile back. I'm very happy with the results of the commission for this Pipe.

matchstick - I shall name it Rupert in your honor. ;) LOL
fred - thanks for the info. I love learning the history and stories behind things like this! If I could, I would sit and pick your brain for hours. Do you know of any books relating to meers? I have a few on and by certain briar pipe carvers, but nothing on meers yet.

Ben Rapaport is a member of the All Things Meerschaum group on Smoker's Forum, that I was asked to start nearly 3 years ago. Currently, it is comprised of 325 members and is the only group, that I'm aware of that has Meerschaums and it's culture as the focus. Feel free to join, which some members of this forum have already done. Here's Ben's recommended reading list..., at least the most current one.
Christie's. South Kensington, September 2010, The Trevor Barton Collection

Guernsey's, A Gentleman's Collection, January 19-20, 1991

Muzei Iantaria. Mundshtuki i Trubki XVIII--Nachala XX Vekov iz Chastnykh Kollektsii: Katalog Vystavki (Mouthpieces and Pipes of the 18th--early 20th Century from Private Collections. Exhibition Catalogue) (2007)
In my own efforts to become more knowledgeable about this passion for fine tobaccos and Meerschaums, I've accumulated a modest library, which I plan to continue to build as both budget and opportunity present.
The reason that I'm publishing this list, which doesn't include the magazines and article reprints, is that it would be good to see what others are reading. If you have something that you feel could be a source worth recommending, I'd like to know more, and I suspect that others in this group would enjoy it as well..... One thing leads to another and so we teach and learn from each other.
