Ive seen jewelers cloth mentioned several times for briar and meer Polish/shine.

Are you all using the treated and untreaded portions of the cloth, or just the untreated?

The inside cloth is for removing oxides and polishing, and the outer cloth is for preventing oxidation. I'm not sure how affective they are for the briar or the meerschaum, but they do work well for the stems. I am not dismissing any claims that it works. I just don't have any verifiable evidence myself.

I don't think many pipers use it, but I don't see why it wouldn't be at least moderately effective.

Both sides are treated, one for cleaning and the other for polishing. I use both sides on briar, silver, and stems.

Buy the Neerup cloth. I don’t know what it is, but this shit works, even for sterling.

Since the set up for production cost of making a new product like this would be really high for such a small niche market like us, I am going to bank that they are having an existing jeweler's cloth rebranded for them. They are most likely using the ones that have the outside cloth impregnated with a microcrystalline wax.

Not a piper, I gave up after not being able to figure out a chanter, but, I do use a jeweler's cloth. I do smoke a pipe though.


Since millions of people detest the sound of the "war pipes" (Scottish pipes) maybe that's where a lot of push-back for smoking comes. The misuse of the term plays right into the hands of anti-smoking crowd.

I use my wife’s jeweler’s cloths on my pipes all the time, just ask her, lol. That’s why she gets for keeping them in the most accessible dresser drawer she has.

I bought a couple of Dunhill polishing cloths a few years ago and they work fine when I am not too lazy to use them
