Learning how to roll a cigar was in my wishlist for a while. Few weeks ago I decided to get some leaves from the States and start learning. Here are the leaves I used:
Wrapper - Brazilian Mata Fina
Binder - Dominican Binder
Fillers - Aged Dominican Ligero Piloto Cubano and Aged Dominican Seco Criollo 98
I also ordered some Bermocoll to use as the cigar glue.

I watched lots of videos and read as much as I could before rolling one. However, mistakes were inevitable. I forgot to test the draw after bunching, only remembered right after wrapping the cigar and it was too late to unroll it. Another mistake was smoking it right after rolling. As a result, the draw was very loose and it didn't burn well, because I didn't give it enough time to dry properly. Still it was an amazing cigar.

Then I learned from my mistakes and rolled a second one. From the scraps of tobacco, I rolled a cigarillo as well. I have to say that it was the best cigarillo I had ever smoked. It didn't get hot, the burn, draw and taste were all consistent from start to finish:

You convinced me to take the plunge. Just ordered a number of filler, binder and wrapper leaf samples. Off I go !
Pleaso do so. You will be amazed how easy it is. But rolling a good one takes some time.

Well done! That’s an incredible first try. I’ve seen much worse machine rolled cigars for sale. I would be very interested in your follow up attempts.
Thanks. I will post more for sure.

Thanks Javan!! I’m going to have to try this.
You definitely should Michael. If you are growing, you should also be rolling :)

Looks great, especially for a first time.

Kinda interesting that the most simple way to smoke tobacco, just rolling up the leaf, is also the most expensive one.
A cigar weighs approximately 10 grams (0.35 oz) which is 1/5 of 50 gram (1.76 oz) tin of a pipe tobacco. So it makes sense. I haven't calculated yet, but most say that it costs $1.5-2 per cigar if you are rolling your own.

Very Cool!............ Those look great, might have to give this a shot myself one day!
You definitely have to.

Javan the torcedor. Who woulda thunk it?
I guess I am the first one doing this here in Azerbaijan.

Awesome stuff, that pic of the cigar foot face on looks pretty impressive.
The 'ingredient' list sounds like an awesome cigar in the making.
Firm ash as well, would love to have a bunch sitting in the humidor, forgotten about for some years down the track.
Great stuff, pic heavy is always a bonus.
Makes you wonder how the hell alot of Cubans are still too tight or plugged.

I wonder as well, maybe you are the first and only Azerbaijan Torcedor to date?
