I've been using old jam jars for a few years to store tobacco I am dipping into regularly, what I do is put a few rounds of masking tape around the lid. I said dipping into regularly, but that's actually not true since I have a lot of jars, some don't get touched for 6months, when they do I find the tobacco in a perfectly moist state.
For longer-term storage I used these IKEA ball jars with the rubber gasket, and for really long-term storage I use heat-sealed mylar bags.
