I've been using old jam jars for a few years to store tobacco I am dipping into regularly, what I do is put a few rounds of masking tape around the lid. I said dipping into regularly, but that's actually not true since I have a lot of jars, some don't get touched for 6months, when they do I find the tobacco in a perfectly moist state.

For longer-term storage I used these IKEA ball jars with the rubber gasket, and for really long-term storage I use heat-sealed mylar bags.

By IKEA ball jars, are you referring to the kroken ones or?

Can you link me some masking tape so that I make sure I understood which tape you are referring to?

May I also know how often do you open up the 6 month ones? I assume everytime you need to fill up your weekly jars? (I'm referring to your regular rotation)

I basically want to store some tobacco I'll use up in around half a year and weekly transfer it from those 6 month jars in the weekly one.

I assume that the tin cans can also work for weekly storage as I'd smoke it before it gets dry.

Thanks!

This is the tape, you may call it paper tape.
Regarding opening, can’t really tell how often I do open them, I don’t have shorter term storage, just tins if it is a tinned tobacco.

So technically, something like this might hold the moisture for a few months?

I am looking at possible options in my country and they are not good haha.

Would something like this from IKEA work perhaps?

Or this:

These have rubber and a 4 point snapping system that looks like it's not gonna leak any additional air into the container.

Has anyone had any experience with these? I would assume adding an additional layer of stretch foil might help as these would not distort the foil as they are not with a twist-mechanism.

Thanks!
I have a very small one from Rubbermade (snack size) that I use for travel and to store a mixed blend I made up for myself. It does hold the moisture well. I haven't had any issues personally. I realize most on this forum recommend glass though. Is something like this available in your country ? rubber seal and hinge locking ???

Thanks everyone. I think I'm ready to make my decision with the limited supplies in my country hahaha.

Indeed Hillcrest, I do have these. I'll get these jars from IKEA: KORKEN Series Food Storage - IKEA

I'll also buy around 10-15 replacement rubber seals and I think that should cover it.

Also, thanks in regards to the tape Karam. I'll look into that as well.
