Balkan Sobranie gets a lot of mention here.
I believe the Brown Flake and Special Latakia Flake have gotten honorable mentions as well.
The BS is the only one I've tried so far and it didn't knock anything out of my rotation.

Speaking of J.F. Germain and blends not often mentioned...I received notification that JF Germain King Charles is in stock over at SP. I have not seen that blend available in over a year.
Personally, I've never tried it so I'm reluctant to grab five for the $5 discount/tin on SP but here is a description in the event it sounds like something someone here would be interested in:
King Charles is an elegant mixture comprised of top-notch Virginias, zesty Orientals and enough Cyprian Latakia to make its presence known without dominating the blend. The shag cut packs nicely. This one should be smoked especially slowly for best results.

Germain makes some great blends. In particular Brown Flake has been a favorite of mine for several years, Medium Flake is great as well. When I was in to Latakia Mixtures I loved Special Latakia Flake as well.
I don't think they get much attention on the forums these days because they are never available. Production amount is extremely small. Because of the demand of the Esoterica blends and Balkan Sobranie I believe that Germain has shifted its production and just don't focus on their JF Germain line.
Its been a couple of years since I've been able to buy Brown Flake. I'm actually very slowly nursing the last tin from my "cellar". Its a 7 year old tin....and it's sublime.

I think the Germain line doesn't get much mention because not that many people have tried it. The most popular blends in the line (Brown Flake and Special Latakia Flake) are almost impossible to find. Like others mentioned, they produce the Esoterica line and the current Balkan Sobranie, which generally are considered to be some of the world's best blends .

I've only tried ONE Germain blend and it was love after first bowl : Plum Cake Mixture. "A unique smoking experience" as the tin proudly states. Imagine G&H Kendal Dark with the flavorings from SG Kendal Flake plus a little something extra. An occasional smoke for when the mood strikes. Too much Vitamin N for me to smoke frequently.

I had an assignment in the city tonight, hour and a half in (rush hour) and 45 minutes back, all made enjoyable by Germain Royal Jersey Latakia. Just a wonderful thing.

Actually, Pelican is made in Denmark. Germain's No.7 Mixture is German.
Uncle Tom's Mixture doesn't get much attention. After a few bowls, I can see why. ;-)

I love me some Balkan Sobranie as its my favorite tobacco. It gets mentioned the most. The Brown Flake is a very good tobacco as well. I'm still on the hunt for Medium Flake and Special Latakia Flake. I've not tried the King Charles blend yet, but I do have a tin of it in my cellar.
I walked into a local B&M shop and they had a tin of Brown Flake and King Charles sitting out on the shelf. The tobacconist stated it had been sitting there for about a month 8O I grabbed them immediately. :puffy:
