I've only tried ONE Germain blend and it was love after first bowl : Plum Cake Mixture. "A unique smoking experience" as the tin proudly states. Imagine G&H Kendal Dark with the flavorings from SG Kendal Flake plus a little something extra. An occasional smoke for when the mood strikes. Too much Vitamin N for me to smoke frequently.
Well, more Ennerdale for me :happydance . I just opened and jarred another half kilo box....
Make a list of your favorites and I'll know what NOT to smoke.
I have tried both of these blends and the Plum Cake Mixture is probably the only tin of tobacco I have ever deemed hopeless and threw in the trash. I kind of liked it, then I didn't, then I hated it, then I didn't... I tend to gravitate to the odd side of tastes, but this one truly was "a unique smoking experience". So unique I probably will never try it again. And Ennerdale....

jmill208:

My smoking rotation and stockpile also includes G&H Best Brown #2, MacBaren VA#1, Peterson Irish Whiskey and Irish Flake, C&D Briar Fox ( well aged, the stuff tastes vile fresh out of the tin ), Dunhill Royal Yacht , McClelland 35 Stave Aged, and, for when the Latakia mood strikes, Balkan Sasieni and Penzance. Planning to add a few more tins of the PlumCake though ...

Hey, RY can be yucky indeed out of a smallish bowl. But put it in a Group 5 Cumberland Billiard with Bamboo and the stuff shines whilst inducing some sort of magical nicotine trance.

I can't really explain my infatuation with Ennerdale but it has a cozy comforting effect, the flavorings etc. What's interesting is that I have made a couple of disciples from amongst the SPC staff.
