Nice wrangler! They are not a much seen sight in europe, we do have some rebuild models with Fiat engines in it as Fiat owns them now for the European market. But I suppose this one doesn't have a sorry excuse for an engine!

What I like more is the teardrop trailer! In europe we have some caravan builders that build them, this is a T@B from Tabbert in Germany. To bad they are to small for us sleeping with 4 people in the caravan, nifty little caravans for the almost standard undersized European car.

I got my Jeep back from having new gears (5.13) put in. You can really feel the difference when you step on the gas, especially right off the line.

I had time yesterday to replace my stock front plastic fenders with steel flares.

With a little homemade engineering, fender washers, & assorted hardware, I was able cut and reuse the stock fender well liners:

Most important was the choice of pipe, tobacco, and beverage. I shrewdly choose BCF in a Sav Linea 76 and a caramel macchiato:

Hopefully I'll have time to do the rear ones soon.

Pipe and a jeep sounds like a good time to me, I am getting ready this fall and over the winter to start a restoration of my 1979 CJ5

New rock sliders are on!

Before:

After:

IMG_20220805_192132384.jpg

I really don't need any lift to run the new tires but under flex they did rub the factory sliders. Now the concern is this body pinch seam:

Shade tree mechanic fix:

Not the best solution but it will do for street driving until I push the axle back about an inch or inch and a half.

What a day! The real work has started. Basically got just 1 corner done. Couldn't find my garage pipe so I pulled this lovely Savinelli Polo 122 out of my give away/trade in/sell box and made it my nw garage pipe. It sits flat on its own which is essential for for a garage pipe and has an acrylic stem I can chomp on without hurting it:

Part of my law practice is bankruptcy, and Missouri has a $3,000 exemption (per person) for equity in a motor vehicle. Much more than $3,000 and the bankruptcy trustee starts to demand the debtor pay in equity.

Since I started filing bankruptcies nearly forty years ago, I’ve learned there are exactly three American made motor vehicles over seven years old a bankruptcy trustee will invariably inquire about.

1. Any Corvette

2. A full sized Harley Davidson (not a Sportster)

3. A “real” Jeep (not a station wagon or crossover Jeep)

I have a client that bought a brand new Jeep when he graduated high school in 1978 and he drove it forty years, until one of his grandchildren rebuilt it, and the kid still uses it for daily transportation.

A Jeep is the perfect utilitarian car.

I’d guess the average Jeep made in the modern era (since WW2) spends 99% of it’s time serving as a car on the public roads.

The worst change made was dropping the AMC straight six.

The best improvement was adding an extra door on both sides and lengthening the wheelbase so it rides better.

I want one.

But I can’t seem to wear out my 2005 Yamaha Rhino.

I bought that Jeep brand new in September of 2007 (it's a 2008 model) with 72 miles on the odometer. It has over 138,000 miles now and will hopefully double that at a minimum. It's now our family weekend warrior that gets us out of the city to nice places for a picnic and to enjoy my pipe.

i still miss my Jeep. My first car in 1986 was a 1985 CJ7. In-line 6. I loved that car. Surfing and skiing, it did it all. I believe my parents paid $8,500 for it. I was responsible for gas, insurance and maintenance. I worked in a shoe store after school and sports . I sold it many miles and a few bumps and scrapes later for $5,500 1991. That’s pretty good value.

Enjoy yours Shane!

It's taken a month of Sundays but I'm getting close! The lift kit is in but I still have to install the extended brake lines, double check everything, and torque everything to spec. After that I can take it in for alignment and start enjoying it again while add skid plates, etc at leisure.

Really happy with the results so far:

this picture reminds me of a lot of the locals around my parts.
LOL!

And it's no longer the view over my hood - ditched the '15 in favor of a '23 that was delivered in November - big fan of the new platform/interior/4 cyl. - which all enhances my mostly on-road use (the little bit of off road in snowy, slushy and muddy conditions while hunting was still stress free and that's all I ask).

Damn i was going to say it looks pretty good to start, then again i have a 370z which is a car people love to mod and the only thing I’ve done is put carbon fiber covers on the mirrors and roll bars behind the seats (it’s a convertible) looks great since it’s all black. Looking forward to your progress maybe it will give me a push to do my car.

That's a fine lookin ride man. My wife wants an old wrangler so bad. I'm starting to come around to the idea. I like the Wagoneers but the market for them is insane, at least where i.am.
Great build man. You oughta be proud
