yeah and they're way more arrogant about it in general then doctors. And messier too. Seriously those are the office that actually really need a cleaning. I swear some of the engineers eat on the floor and I'll never forget that slice of cake that just melded into the desk after a week and started growing fuzz. By the way we're not supposed to throw things out but moldy cake is getting thrown out. And yes dude kept eating off of it and no there was no plate involved. But that dude of course knows everything by the way. Of course there are exceptions but that doesn't change that these tendencies are real.
Yup, not shocked! Been a technician on
F-16’s, unmanned aircraft/control systems, heavy duty trucks and heavy equipment. Somehow I ALWAYS end up being the interface between the guys in the trenches and engineering......makes me want to beat my head on the pavement until I’m unconscious cray

what amazes me is how much political stuff and pure arrogant stuff about how everyone is stupid who isn't an engineer. And freaking weird political stuff. Like really that's why you support person X, what kind of fantasy world do you live in?

Right? Typical conversation via Skype from some shithole overseas back to the states. Get done with the call and the Guys ask “what did engineering say?”. My reply every time........”they said that they are not wrong”

IME there’s no difference in the amount of of stupidity and arrogance in either the shop or the office. People are people.

We've all done something stupid at some point in our lives but (3 guys) climbing into a tumble dryer or another guy buying a 'magic lamp' for $41,500 really takes the biscuit.

It's stories like these that make me very worried about the future of the human race

Regards,

Jay.
Hi Jay
the worst cases of human stupidity have a good chance to be awarded.

The guys in the industrial dryer reminded me of taking the lift up to the top of the St. Louis Arch, Gateway to the West. Since the structure is a tall arch, up-and-down elevators won't work, so they designed odd little sit-down cars that are weighted to stay upright that feel like you are getting into a dryer. Their track is indoors, so you aren't suspended in space. They even have little vent holes throughout like a laundry dryer does. If you are quite tall (over six feet) or somewhat overweight, or claustrophobic, it could be a problem. At the top, the entire arch sways slightly, as do many tall buildings, but it is an unforgettable view.

For some reason I generally feel safer in an Airplane than on a swaying tower.
Probably some irrational thought like not having a parachute, or maybe I've seen too many smaller structures blow over and I can't see how the big ones are so different, even though I've never heard of a skyscraper failing to wind.

That's one thing that's long been known. There are far too many people who believe completely that since they have spent so much time and effort becoming experts in their own field, that makes them experts in everybody else's field as well.

As one of thousands of examples,Margaret Murray, an expert in Egyptian Archaeology (early 20th century) went quite astray when she began propounding on what she convinced herself about Northern European cultures.

I learned through the loss of $600 not to let an F-15 mechanic work on your car. At the end of the whole fiasco, not a single damned thing was accomplished by him.

My sister's husband got an Engineering degree (paid for by my sister after they got married) and it seems like every time we meet he's spouting some blatantly incorrect nonsense, but his "degree" makes everyone else act like he can say no wrong.
I don't interfere too much because he's obviously just a toy and I don't want to ruin sister's fun.
