The iPhone isn't for everyone, but blackberry is Dead. This says something. I know quite a few professionals who love their iPhones. Seems it's just not for you, but that's your issue. The iPhone is capable. What exactly do you think it won't do? Assuming it's the not only the keyboard that's your issue?

I gave my iphone to my 17 year old daughter and she is happy. I got a Samsung Galaxy and went back to Android. Much happier. I see no glaring problem with the iphone, but I use gmail and it is seamless with Android, no big surprise. I bet the iphone 7 will be a big hit for Apple. Samsung has had water-resistant phones for a while now. The i6 was flimsy. I hope the i7 is beefed-up. Apple has been behind the curve to Samsung for a while now in my opinion. Just like anything get what works best for you and enjoy.

I'll be pre-ordering one Friday, a Plus. I really want to play with the new camera. Ordering means no crowded store, delivered to the house on the 16th. Ten minutes switching over and I should be good to go.
I'm still cogitating on the new watch. I like the self-contained GPS and longer battery life. Decisions, decisions!

I don't know it seems like really serious business happens on the blackberry, like how the president uses one. Everyone I know that uses blackberry loves them.

Nate, I took another vote.....you are correct!!
BUT If you use the Galaxy Note series with the pen.....serious, serious work phone.
My kids love Apple products and I know a few techies that love Apple products, BUT if you want to juice items and tweek them without big brother Apple voiding your warranty then Android and Windows are power tools.

Removal of the headphone jack allows for a thinner phone, more battery space and a speaker. The iPhone COMES WITH wireless Bluetooth earbuds AND an adapter using the lightening port to use your wired headphone should you chose. Remember when they stopped including disk drives and CD rom drive? Everyone thought it was crazy. It wasn't. They evolve.
It appears I stand corrected as to my presumption that you'd have to buy a new set of head phones :)
However, IMO the lack of CD rom drives in newer Mac laptops is exactly the type of problem that I'm talking about. While obviously cd roms et al. are outdated, and Apple is ahead of the curve here, physical media (CDs , DVDs) are still in common use. It's nice to be able to play an older video game, rip a cd, or watch an old DVD on your computer... without buying an external cd rom drive. To take things a step further, current Mac operating systems are not even compatible with past Mac applications past a certain date not so long ago (5 years back maybe?).

Wow, they went out of their way to avoid mentioning Bluetooth. But good to see it's just easier-to-use Bluetooth!

lawdawg: You hit the nail on the head. That is one of the reasons I love Apple's business model. Get the customer to fall in love with the product then, force them to happily up-grade. I will admit to being a PC user when it comes to computers though. The iPhone and iPad interact seamlessly with my PCs and Windows 10 so, no complaint there.

My yearly upgrades are virtually automatic due to my son crapping up his phone. So I get the new one, and he gets the one I've used the last year or so.
Looking forward to it. Better battery life is one thing I long for. I connect it already via Thunderbolt to my car, and not that often to headphones.

Yep, the President uses a blackberry. It is really focusing on a niche market. A toy iPhone works for most people but, as I said above, blackberry is just better for emails and document management. That is not important for all business people, but it is key for some (myself included). When I retire and don't care about that aspect, then I am sure I would be fine with an iPhone - great for surfing pipe sites and porn.

Peck-
I had problems a year ago with e-mails, but it really was a server issue. Three gmail accounts and one .mac, no problems traceable to the phone for two years. Good enough search function in Mail, but don't know about attachment names. Will try later.

Keyboard - you can turn sideways, use both thumbs and get pretty fast. Auto correct is mostly very helpful though it can come a cropper, too.
Dropped calls- those were mostly thanks to ATT, haven't had one in years that wasn't traceable to out of cell range.
Accessing servers- no idea on that one.

Remember floppy disks? Apple ditched those. SCSI drives? Also. Yes, it's nice to have a disk drive handy, but many folks just don't use 'em any more, or they have a desktop for ripping. I haven't played a CD for a few years, and won't be anytime soon. I prefer BRD's to DVDs anyway, and my player will do both. Trade off? Lighter, less stuff to break, longer battery life, less heat.

jpm - not attachment names, with blackberry I can search the actual text of the attachment, and it is very quick. Even people I know who use an iphone, constantly complain about the search function and document management.
Here are the reasons I prefer my Blackberry passport for what I do:
- Security - everything I have read says bb is better, and my own IT guys agree, though I agree Apple is gaining.
- Long battery life, up to two days - in contrast, I never made it more than 8 hours on my iPhone before I needed a recharge
- Screen real-estate, high resolution, and 1:1 layout (key for me)
- Rugged I-Beam construction and Gorilla Glass 3 protective covering - the thing is indestructible
- Telephone call capabilities and associated enhancements, including stereo audio output and four microphones for exceptional audio pickup and noise cancellation, especially for conference calls on speakerphone
- E-mail processing, organization, and handling of attachments - the iPhone is no comparison.
- physical keyboard (I hate typing on a screen)
- Setting up different user profiles and alert modes (ring, vibrate, LED, and silent) for calls, emails and messages (I could never seem to get this to work on my iPhone)
- External memory, and access to use it as a hard drive

I know a couple but, it's a small town of only 300,00 or so.
You don't have your own personal server do you? In the basement wc? I read somewhere that all Blackberry users are required to. Although that may only apply to US citizens working in the State Department,.
