ALL the way. I was amazed how accurate the "label."

"INTJ stands for Introvert, iNtuitive, Thinking, Judging and represents individual's preferences in four dimensions characterising personality type, according to Jung's and Briggs Myers' theories of personality type."

Looks like a lot of introverts here! I guess that shouldn't be a shock... considering the medium and the "hobby".

Well, to all of you guys who can still throw your hips around without throwing them out for a month, I say fake it until you make it!

Extroverts have way more sex.

Ha ha, well... the extrovert is the one in the corner, holding court, soaking in the laughs and admiration of the crowd, banging fists on tables, stirring ire. I'm the one who turns to the cute brunette who just happens to be right next to me... with a twinkle in my eye, and asks, "It's hot and crowded in here, Wanna take a walk." puffy Lets see who does what first. H aha.
Extrovert doesn't mean struck dumb. It doesn't mean that you can't hold a conversation, or woo in the ethereal moonlight.

I teach Psych AP and this is a topic that students always struggle with. I like the above graphic for a quick look. Introvert doesn’t mean shy necessarily. I think it is likely and even common to exhibit traits on both sides. I’m more of an introvert. As a teacher I need to engage groups, communicate effectively, be expressive, be able to make quick decisions with regards to my lessons in order to teach effectively, but by the end of the day I’m seeking alone time to recharge. An extrovert might also do those things, but want to keep socializing after the work day.
that picture describes me perfectly.

I took that personality test - Taylor Johnson?? - and came out with both introvert and extrovert tendencies. My friends would likely say I'm an extreme extrovert but if I wander into a crowd of strangers, I can be quite introverted. I would say I was quite extroverted in my younger years and have acquired some of the introvert qualities as I have aged. I don't think there is any push to be extroverted nor do I see that as a requirement for success. I think being an extreme introvert may make it difficult to succeed in many careers as extremes are usually a bad thing anyway. Some of the brightest and most successful people I have met in my life were more quiet, analytical thinkers.

From around 1978 till 2017 I worked with the public in a variety of ways. I would get off work and just go home and tell everyone give me some time to decompress. There were also times when in the car business a bit of drinking would go around some after work
Constantly dealing with a potential customer, a vendor. a tax accessor, a health insurance company, a commercial real estate insurance company, a tax collector, a mayor or city council member basically one person after another trying to take money out of your pocket. It is always a battle and when I am done with the daily fight I need to get time alone and just chill. I dealt with people for 12-14 hours a day at times and when I was done I needed either my time of just my sleep.

I love retirement, I get up around 2pm, go to bed around 1-2. I still have to fuck with insurance companies but that is about in and I give most of the work to my daughter in law school. She needs practice with their type of scum along with others. I can go weeks and only see my live in caretaker and a couple of my kids who are close to home. There can be days when I get my coffee smoke my pipes, hang out on line, express what I want for dinner smoke my after dinner pipe and have really no conversation for almost all the day. I like it.

Ha! Maybe so... maybe so. But I will defer to the king of the extroverts. I'm sure Mick Jagger has laid more pipe than all of the plumbers in Europe combined.

I rest my case.
Maybe, but I prefer quality over quantity. He can have all the plumbers he wants, ha ha!

See, I think most artists are really introverts. And although I’ve obviously never met the man, I think Jagger would be included. Just from what I’ve seen from interviews and what not. But performing artists have to put on that extrovert hat when they perform. I think that might be part of the reason why drug use is so common in that industry, in other words, many of them using drugs to get them into that “zone,” or to try to cope with the stress of constantly having to be someone they aren’t. Think about it: Jimi Hendrix, John Belushi, Chris Farley, etc, etc. Of course I’m just speculating, but those dots seem connectable to me. ?‍♂️

I guess I'm an extrovert.. the business I was in for the majority of my working life required it. I grew up around salesmen and businessmen, who talked shit and made money that way.
I wanna make money talking shit. I've just been listening to what customers want, making sketches in hopes of meeting their expectations (or just doing the repair or sizing), and then doing the most excellent work I can do. Then, they pay me. So, if I shake their hands really hard or talk shit to them they'll pay me more? Maybe I just need to get all red-eyed on coffee and babble a bunch about what they would rather have instead?

Or, are there jobs out there that pay you to lie about some product? ...I guess marketing, right? Or, is this a booth where you get paid by how fast you offend someone? I would love that job. I could see how that could be a get rich quick biz.

I mean, being introverted doesn't mean that I hid behind the counter shaking afraid to talk to someone who wants my work.

I could use more opening lines when customers come to see me. The last year my opening line was always, "Come on in, feel free to pick up and touch the work... it begins the bonding process" with a satirical grim... but this year, I'm reluctant to have people touch the work, or think that I am and have been encouraging others to touch the work. The plague and all.

By talk shit, I meant strike up conversation, and build quick relationships.. and talk people into spending money on the product you're selling (not made by you, and possibly not even endorsed by you). I've sold cars (New and used), and insurance of various types. I was only saying that in those applications it might benefit a person to be an Extrovert.

I never suggested you hid behind anything. I imagine your work does most of your selling for you. I'm also not suggesting that one is better than the other.

Yes sir, It's harder than ever to make that initial connection with people, with the mask and the social distancing.
