Interesting article, interesting man, amazing palate. I still wonder how he has time to draw, smoke all these blends and clean all the pipes. Does he ever sleep? He must be a master at multitasking!

I have it on good authority that he sleeps on alternate nights, and when he doesn't he pays his wife to roust him when he nods off.
The "Point of View" drawing evokes Albrecht Durer for me (Gr. artist, 1471-1528), the intensity of line and detail. The photos at the drawing board and with the hat make me think of what I would expect Rumi, the Persian poet, to look like. I met Jim briefly at the TAPS pipe show in Raleigh, N.C. where he gave me a sample of EGR, and I have a tin on my shelf right now. We're both alums of the UNC-Greensboro MFA programs. That's an excellent article, well written.
I really want to tease Jim but I won't. Though I really like the art featured in the article.
You guess correctly when you mention Durer, who was a big influence on my work. Some of the Northern Renaissance artists were ground breaking.

I did at Tobacco Reviews a couple weeks ago.
While Jim does deserve all the praise he is receiving here, I must point out a couple weaknesses . After all, he might get a big head and slack off on his reviews.
Weakness number one: He can't hit a curve ball.
Weakness number two: He is unable to fry an egg properly.
On the positive side he appears to have a good hair stylist.

Actually, I could hit the curve ball. The knuckleball, too.
As for frying eggs, I always left that up to John Lawitzke. You know he has more experience.
