I'll have to disagree with you about Metallica, I believe that their first four albums, five if you include Garage Days are wonderful. After Justice, I think that the band members were replaced by replicants or underwent some kind of brain wiping, it's quite sad really. Also I have to agree with Al, no Iron Maiden and no f@cking Motörhead, tsk, tsk, tsk. BTW, I was/am a big fan of Thrash, besides the bands you mentioned, I love D.R.I., Suicidal Tendencies, S.O.D., Overkill and many more. Also love the Misfits, Samhain, Danzig, Black Flag, the Dead Kennedys, Ministry, etc.

Good call! LOVE Ministry!! The Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Taste is seriously wicked. Filth Pig was amazing as well. Have this on my wall...

This forum needs to design its own Kutte.
I think Al's suggestions -- including Motorhead -- belong on there.
Would love to see a huge Suicidal patch like was featured in Repo Man.

Is "Alice in Chains" some kind of rock band? I can't keep up with what the kids listen to nowadays.
Now listening: MOTORHEAD.
By the way, if you fellows have not seen Lemmy, the documentary about Motorhead founder and bassist/vocalist/composer Lemmy Kilmister, it's worth the time.

Yeah I hear you. I discovered Ministry and NIN at the same time and would say those two albums, The Mind Is... and Pretty Hate Machine, were the pivotal albums in my life.
Also bought this one with the Ministry...

At the risk of getting shredded to pieces here ...
I couldn't help but notice there has been no mention of 2 of my favorites...
TOOL - Heavy, intelligent, poetic, and 4 men with the absolute highest caliber of musicianship you can find (not including the original bassist, but including his replacement and current bassist). They are very similar to Rush in their long, intricate compositions and complex musical passages.
Mastodon - 'nuff said. The album "Blood Mountain" was my favorite.

I like how Mr. Alien Jourgensen's handwriting matches the manic intensity of his music.
If you like Rush, I also recommend Camel.

I'm the opposite with Ministry. I think Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste was the last good album of theirs with Land of Rape and Honey at the top. I'm not into metal as I am into Industrial, so their Synthpop/Industrial days were pretty damn good.

I suspect, as it is with most things, it's dependent upon the time and place of your first exposure. Age is an important factor here.

DM blew right by the conspicuous AC/DC patch. The Bon Scott fronted group was as good as it gets. Saw them in concert in '79 and what a great show that was.

I enjoy The Land of Rape and Honey and the live EP. Sort of the definitive Ministry.
@jackswilling:
Agreed on that being the classic era there. Really intense band. Slipped my mind, clearly.

Psalm 69 is my absolute favorite Ministry album, with Jesus Built My Hotrod the Redline/Whiteline version being my favorite song of all time. I also like The Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Taste, The Land of Rape and Honey, Twitch, In Case you Didn't Feel Like Showing Up and Filth Pig. They kind of lost me with Dark Side and the albums after that though.

First time I ever heard AC/DC was live in the mid to late 70's as opening act for Alice Cooper. With Bon Scott on vocals. What a great live act. They understood the key to great rock n roll was keeping it simple.
