After reading some posts, probably shouldn’t admit that I smoke Borkum Riff Cherry Cavendish (I feel even more like a super newbie lol). Any suggestions on an alternative to try that’s available in Canada? Local shop carries Mr. B’s varieties as well as Cornell and Diehl.

Anyone try Mr. B’s Wild Anatolia?

Well, you can look at Smokingpipes, com or tobaccos pipes, and numerous others that sell tobacco in the states that ship to Canada. I suspect you will have to deal with customs so maybe give them a call and see what it is like.

Just ordered these 2 samplers. 3 types in each. Now even more questions begin. Lol. I only have 1 Churchwarden right now (another on way). Do I need to use different pipes?

There ain’t ever anything wrong with smoking what you like my man. I smoke a lot of Sir Walter Raleigh regular which is a tobacco that I’m sure some pipe smokers would turn their nose up at. I do not care.

I think that Autumn Evening by Cornell and Diehl is their most popular aromatic. Another really popular aromatic is Lane 1Q. It may be sold under a different name at your local brick and mortar and I’m not 100% it’s available in Canada.

I would suggest you try out some cob pipes since you primarily smoke aromatics. You could even get some of the ones with the nicer acrylic stems so that they feel more like mainstay pipes if that interests you. I’m generally not a fan of churchwardens because I often don’t like the draw and churchwarden pipe cleaners are more expensive. With that said if you’re enjoying them by all means keep smoking them.

I smoke aromatics. In this department, however, I am somewhat conservative as I mainly focus on three different blends of aromatics. All three are my own and two of them I have been smoking for nearly four decades.

That said, I have a few others.

When I am not smoking aromatics, I tend to focus mostly on English Blends or VaPers.

I wouldn't put up with anyone who knocked aromatics.

From my experience, that type of nonsense typically flows from someone who is insecure in themself and needs approval from whoever is loudest in the group.

Either that or they are too afraid to admit they like a good Bud or Coors Lite.

Seriously, who needs people like that, LOL.

Smoke and Drink what you like.

Dress like a cowboy while attending the opera.

It's all good.

I usually don’t smoke aros, but I recently tried a bunch of burley based “codger blends” out of curiosity and to my surprise I found of all of them my fave was probably mixture 79. It seems to be a love it or hate it blend here, but I preferred it to most of the other otc old standards I tried

If import duty from the USA is not too prohibitive, the nice folks at Boswell Pipes and Tobacco have quite a few aromatic blends.
I suggest you get a sampler selection of their aromatics from them.
You can also get a sampler selection of their other blends to widen your repertoire

What about pipes? Do I need a different pipe for each type? How does it work?
Some tobacco blends can leave a very strong ghost (after taste) which can be difficult to eliminate.

It really depends on how sensitive (or not) you are to ghosts.
If you are not bothered, then no problem. Smoke whatever you like in the same pipe.
Indeed some members prefer to use the same pipe for different blends as they feel if gives added complexity/another dimension to the smoke.

If you are, then you may wish to have different pipes for different genres of blends eg aromatics vs Latakia/Oriental (also called English/Balkan) vs Virginia/Virginia-Perique blends.

Pure Virginia, Cavendish and Burley are a lot more "neutral" and ghost minimally

We all have different approaches/preferences as to what we look for in our smokes.
Do what you feel comfortable with.
Heaven forbid you should end up with 20 pipes just because you have 20 tobacco blends open
:ROFLMAO:

Thanks so much for taking the time to give me so much info. If I’m only using 2 Churchwarden pipes, how would you split up your tobacco’s? One for aro’s and one for all else?

What blends are you smoking now, and how many blends do you have open ?
If you only have 2 pipes, I would encourage you to get a 3rd(doesn't have to be expensive).

That way you will have one for aromatics, one for Latakia/Oriental blends and one for everything else.

I don't much mind smoking an aromatic blend in a pipe where I've smoked a Virginia/VaPer previously or vice versa.
I find that Latakia/Orientals will ghost other genres, so I tend to keep my Latakia/Oriental pipes separate
