I say go for it, if you get a nasty taste from it, you'll have to sweeten it: pour some sea salt in it and pour some everclear in the bowl and let it sit for a day like that. If you do that, be sure to wipe the outside of the bowl immediately if you drip any alcohol onto it, it will eat away the finish quite fast. You can find some clearer info about 'sweetening the bowl' around the forums.

Thank you madmurdoc! You have been a big help :) I have actually just finished one steam. I don't. Have the sandpaper or the oil but I used olive oil and it looks great as of now.... Will see how it holds up.
Another newbie question: I have smoked black and milds a bit and like the flavor or wine and origional. You know how that compares to pipe smoking or any tobacco flavors?

So I did the treatment minus the sand paper and they look beautiful! No oxidation on them what so ever :)

Excellent it doesnt look like you need to ream out the bowls at all. If you like the black and milds you will want to stick with aromatic tobaccos try captain black it is usually available everywhere even grocery stores.

O really, I think I have a sample of that coming in the mail if I am not mistaken... I will keep my eye out for it. Thanks :)
