Should really have asked here about this purchase before committing but I have just sourced and purchased a used copy of this book in the UK. What are peoples opinion of it as I had to spend as much on the book as I do a tin of tobacco. Hoping a worthy sacrifice.
I just saw SmokingPipes offer copies of a coffee table book on the Fuentes for USD$1200
Thankfully it is cost of a tin in the UK rather than Oz 😁

It's good and funny, if you don't take him seriously. Really, it is a lot like conversations that we have on here. People questioning every nuance, with some people taking themself too seriously, and others finding enjoyment in watching things like that, ha ha. He also overthinks things, but I think that is what makes him interesting.

An enjoyable pass time. A simple pleasure. No sense making it any more complicated.

Although….

PAD and TAD are well “forum” documented disorders, closely followed by..

Tamper Aquisition Disorder
Lighter Aquisition Disorder
Stem chewing
Cob licking

Next comes the sporting of white socks and sandals.

Later followed by Lawn Assaults.

Arrest and/or institutionalization.

A shameful and pointless downward spiral —as smoking is banned in most institutions.

Keep it simple.

It wasn't a bad read. All the pipes in it were expensive. You won't find a cob or a Falcon or basically anything that people actually use.

He does go on about opening the airways which is the authors personal choice but not everyone agrees.

I really enjoyed that book. It’s a great read. I didn’t enjoy his second one as much, that one was basically all the scrap they cut from his first book, there are some decent chapters but it didn’t get my attention like the first one did. His books are obviously more pipe centric, doesn’t talk tobacco much at all. To sum it up, I think it’s worth a read, I’ve read it at least twice. I bought it during the start of transitioning to a pipe, so I was young and excited to learn everything I could. Back then I was still subscribed to P&T magazine which I found to be an excellent periodical. If you can find them, I highly recommend buying some. I am close to having the entire collection. It’s a shame they had to shut it down.

Dont knock socks with sandals and a driver's cap with a tweed vest (my ideal getup)

Jesus and the Min Ron Nee cuban cigar book was only a couple hundred bucks and i thought that was too much! (now first editions in mint condition are much much more but it's still just a picture of the Cuban cigar line and notes).

It's all relative. I've owned many of the brands pictured in the book and a lot of those brands show up here daily. Never owned a Falcon though many look promising. Although I've got a cob, I won't buy from Missouri Meerschaum.
