I like everything favorite rap/hip hop is probably drake. I grew up with country and it has a soft spot in my heart. Not a huge pop fan but some songs are decent. Only thing I really can't stand is like black metal.

Cheers

Gunnar

My little brother loves drake but I just can't get into it. I love Mellohype and all guys from Odd Future but I don't think most here would like or approve of them.

Sorry man the hippity-hop thing just isn't gonna happen with me. I too am fond of good music in all its forms but there has to be something that sounds like a melody or harmony or something other than just rhythm. I liked punk but the hardcore thrash stuff was mostly noise to me same as rap and death metal. It's gotta be music, man!

I like your Dad already.
Well he actually didn't have a problem with the earliest rap because it was pretty much innocent party music. But by the time it got serious in the 80's he was done with it.
Only thing I really can't stand is like black metal.
Yeah that stuff is pretty annoying, although I guess I can appreciate that it is out there. I don't like Cookie Monstrer-type vocalists.

Just about anything with Pete Rock is going to be really deep, cinematic, and funky as hell.

...but seriously, I can diggit. I'm still a tapehead recording off the radio mostly, but I do appreciate the indy abstract styles especially, like the MadLib stuff you posted.
One of my alltime favorite hiphop tracks is "it's OK" by All Natural:

I find no redeeming qualities in Hip Hop, but Chap Hop was nice lol and Rage Against the Machine is a truely wonderful band, but I definatley would not classify them as Hip Hop. I didn't know what Hip Hop was, so thanks for sharing it, at least now I know what people are talking about.

I still have Grandmaster Flash, Slick Rick, the Beastie Boys, NWA and Public Enemy on my ipod. I saw the Beastie Boys with Run DMC back in 86. Run DMC was good, but the Beasties just took the show and ran away with it. They had a lot of energy live.

I love the Beasties. We were finally going to see them at Austin City Limits a few years ago and that's when they announced MCA had cancer :( I'm grateful that he was well enough to produce another album with them, but I thought I'd heard he was getting better and then he was gone. :crying:
