IM Corona Old Boy or Kiribi

Looking to get a new pipe lighter. Either an Old Boy or Kiribi. Anyone have experience with both?

I have both.

Both seem equal quality and function. It comes down to finish/style preference.

I do like that my particular model Kiribi has a tab that lets me flip the cap up with my thumb. Also, it took a direct drop onto concrete and still functions perfectly.

The Kiribi was also less expensive. Now the Kiribi is my "anywhere, anytime" lighter and the Corona is my "fancy show-off" lighter.

I have a Kiribi Kabuto Short in black nickel finish and I can highly recommend it. I don't own an Old Boy, but the Kiribi gets the job done just fine and is half the cost.

I’ve heard great things about both, but only have experience with my Kiribi Mikazuki. I highly recommend it. Very solid, reliable, etc. Flame is very easy to adjust, holds a good amount of fuel. No complaints.

Dropped it on a linoleum kitchen floor the day I bought it and it no longer holds fuel. Just too fragile for the cost. I keep it for photo window dressing now.

Warranty only covered manufacturing defects.

I have a Kiribi Kabuto and a Maruman GL-67. I like the longer spark wheel on the 67, but they haven’t made them for like 40-50 years.

Never owned an Old Boy.

I don’t think it’s got anything going for it over the brands that I own.

Right just saying from that experience it kind of turned me off from the brand. Another Japanese made __ of ____. Can you tell I have had some bad experience with Japanese products?

I’d buy 3 zippos instead.

I have a couple Nimrods too. Seems to dry out in a couple of days though. Lighter fluid ain’t all that expensive, but it’s kind of pain to have to fill it every other day. They work great though.

I have a couple of each. Dropped a few, but only on carpet or grass. All fine, before, during and after.

I also have a small one like the photo shanez posted above. I actually don't like the tab, but it's no biggie either way.
