My biggest issue with tongue bite seemed to come with relights toward the bottom of the bowl. Ive gotten to where if the last third of the bowl starts giving me problems I just dump it and end it there.
Also the tobacco needs to be thoroughly dried before smoking. And if your tongue is in pain then take about 3 days off before smoking again, over time it will start hurting less and less.

Move on to the stronger tobacco when you're ready
They don't bite.Dry your tobacco out a bit prior to smoking.Excess moisture contributes to bite and bitterness.When I was a new smoker,I would get terrible bite from time to time with those aromatic tobaccos
