A straight billiard, without any doubt.

Bonus points for saddle bit and blasted finish.

Before I can answer this question, I'll be requiring further information. Why can I have but one shape? Who has made such a demand? How will this demand be enforced? When you say for life, you mean mine? I'll be awaiting your response at which point I'll be able to make a well thought out response to your question.

Medium size chunky thick-wall bowl/shank durable pipe such as the author shape. Sav 320 comes to mind. Unlikely to break if dropped and unlikely to burn through.

If it's briar pipe, definitely canadian. In general, my number one choice is definitely gourd calabash. I can't survive a single day without my dose of Latakia in gourd bash. :)

Long, pencil shank Billiard... more commonly referred to as a Bing.

But I'd need two finishes--smooth for smoking at my desk and some sort of dark blast for smoking while driving. I prefer the look of wood grain, but I'm too clumsy to safely handle a zippo with my hands on the wheel, and a Djeep is a lot easier on a blast than smooth briar.
