I love winter garden. Best cycling trail! I live in the Metrowest/dr Phillips area off Kirkman!
I know Dr. Phillips well. My wife and I used to like going to Big Fin’s during happy hour and sit outside and enjoy the company. Of course, this is when we lived downtown. Maybe we can get together sometime for a smoke? I don’t know too many other serious pipe smokers in the area.

Talk to you soon,
Bob

Especially numbers 2, 4, 6, and 7.

Good lists! I'll take a different tack and list characteristics that I use to select tobaccos:

1. Blends or single leaf that are consistent in flavor and smoking characteristics
2. Blends that require fewer relights and burn evenly
3. Blends with fewer additives
4. Brands and blends that can respond to demand and are generally not listed as "out of stock"
5.Brands that have wide distribution for the convenience of their customers and are widely available
6.Blends that have irresistible flavor and get smoked up
7. Brands and blends that are good value for the price

The Big Rock Candy Mountains
Ennerdale
Margate
Germain's Medium Flake
Canon Plug
Commonwealth
Luxury Navy Flake
Dark Kentucky Flakes

These are my current 7. I have almost 100 blends in my rotation and I smoked up all the GL Peases in the early rotation and I need to work them back in.

Based on my cellar;

PS Bullseye Flake
PS Luxury Twist Flake
Newminster Navy Flake
Old Joe Krantz
SG Full Virginia Flake
HH Old Dark Fired
PS Toasted Burley

But there might be room for a brown or black Irish twist in there somewhere. I’ll know more in a couple days.

There is a lot of great lists on here...

Tough to isolate seven candidates... A top 20 would have been easier ?

Watch City 558
C&D Opening Night
Fribourg & Treyer CVP
Watch City Rhythym & Blues
Seattle Pipe Club Mississippi River
Rattray Marlin Flake
Reiner Long Golden Flake

I don't consider Mississippi River a true English so I'll throw in Chelsea Morning as my change of pace English blend.

This was a toughie, and my answer would have been different five years ago.
All of these are in production, and easy to obtain.
Dunhill Flake
Dunhill Standard
Peterson Old Dublin
Capstan Blue (flake or ready rubbed)
Amphora Regular
MacBaren Mixture (Scottish)
PS Natural Dutch Cavendish

Reluctantly omitted:
MacBaren Golden Extra
Sutlfiffe Virginia Slices
Paul's Pipe Shop Arrowhead

Although I’ve only been in this a few months and have a great deal to try I think I have a pretty good handle on what I like, although I’m sure my list will be different a year or 5 from now, or after I get through some samples I just received...especially with all the great SG mixtures out there.

As it’s stands:
SG’s Skiff Mixture
SG’s Brown Sugar
GH’s Bob’s Flake
Peterson’s University Flake
LJ Peretti’s Cuban Mixture
LJ Peretti’s Park Square
some LJ Peretti I haven’t tried

Cabbies
40th Anniversary
St. James Flake
Dark Plug/Flake Unscented/Dark Birdseye
Old Dark Fired
Squadron Leader

with the last being most shaky--somedays I might choose nightcap, but there are a lot of English blends to try, though I don't think the category deserves another slot.
