You may have just explained the origin of my recreational habits. Dad administered the whiskey rub while smoking a pipe.

Didn’t rub it on our gums but dipped the pacifier in it that gave it to us. All I remember in my parents home was Wilson’s.
Me and my kids got a whiskey (well my dad used whisky on me) soaked washcloth out of the freezer to chew on.
I became a raging alcoholic, good thing he didn’t use the narcotic version
1963 to 1970
. 1963, I bought my first Castello Sea Rock.
. Finding even one Castello in a shop it was rare.
. Sea Rocks were the only finish I ever saw back then.
. At $25 each they were expensive.
. By 1970 I was hooked on them
. By 1970 I had acquired 6.
. I have no regrets as I still smoke those 6.

I remember being very resistant to this new technology. 8 tracks were good enough for me.
And trying to time the 'record' button to start after the DJ stopped talking and before the song lyrics started. Those damn DJ's were evil about talking right up until the words started... Then CD's came along. lol

I remember when the internet, sci-fi, fantasy, comic books, and video games were for nerds and definitely not cool; making them all much higher quality and intelligent rather than slop for the lowest common denominator.
