Mum was a nurse, so there was always a ready supply of this, gentian violet and for the really bad abrasions, cuts and lacerations there was tincture of iodine

I always got the double whammy-- debriding the wound with hydrogen peroxide first, THEN the Mecurochrome.

At the time I though my mom was torturing me.
