I remember phys-ed class in high school included a week of trap shooting and .22 rifle shooting, with school owned guns..........
and I remember when I could sleep through the night without having to get up to pee 3 times a night..........

Yeah, phone books have just about become obsolete.I remember the two inch thick phone books everyone had in their home.

We kept the old ones for a long time after they were discontinued but someone threw them out eventually so now I just make less calls. Life is simpler that way.

I remember back when, if you lived in an American small town or rural community and you wanted to buy a pipe, you went down to the local drug store or general store (yes, they were still around), and your choices pretty much looked like this--

If you wanted anything other than this, your options were either catalog mail order (allow up to 4 weeks for shipping and cross your fingers that your payment didn't get lost in the mail), or travel to the nearest large city with a real tobacconist.


Times have indeed changed.

I remember driving from Miami to Eugene with my father and always looking forward to seeing what new food, drink or restaurant might be waiting for us in the next town.

KB Toys was magical.

I've since driven cross country about forty times and everything looks the same as that before it, no variation, and the cities are run down with people literally defecating and dying in the streets.

I also remember bug family reunions, and how old and wise everyone appeared. Now I'm older than all those people and don't feel wiser.

my pediatrician when I was a kid, would do the exam, and then you and your mom would have to go back to his office, where he would put out his cigar, as a courtesy while he read his findings to you.
