I Must Quit Smoking

That just sucks! Sorry you have to give up something you enjoy so much! If I were in this position every pipe in the house would have to go,which would make my wife very happy. I couldn't have them around and not smoke like a freight train!

Foggy, I saw both my grandmothers live to their mid 90's and it was not pretty. One of my favorite quotes sums up my thoughts on how I want to go out.
" “Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!”

Wow. Love that Hunter S Thompson quote. I had the pleasure of meeting the man in 1997 when I was attending grad school in the US. It was quite an experience, and made me quite a fan. One day I will tell the story of my interaction with Mr. Thompson when I've had a few.

That is a great quote. When I feel my time is near, I will return to smoking. But it is too early. I consider suicide a sin, and smoking with serious heart and aortic aneurism problems is pretty much suicide.

foggy, I totally agree with you. I did not realize there were serious heart issues involved, that is not something to ever mess around with. My favorite uncle who had congestive heart failure would not quit his three pack a day habit and it killed him. He was only 67, pisses me off to this day.
Peck, gotta hear that story someday, I loved that guy, he was my hero for a lot of years.

I enjoy your artwork, I assume the photo by Judy Mays is a photo of yourself. Handsome devil surrounded by naked ladies, at least you have something to do, to help when the urge to smoke strikes.

Yup that's me. Last night, after almost 5 days of not smoking, I was feeling very out of sorts. So I lit up a small #2 Dunhill and smoked about 1/4 of it. Felt much better. Will do that maybe once a week as required to maintain stability.
