Best of luck to you and I am sorry for your bad news. Hopefully you can still visit the forums and enjoy pipe collecting as a hobby even if you are not able to smoke them.

Foggy, stick with the Forums. Half the fun around here are personalities and conversation. You have

a great collection of pipes, on which you can comment. So long as you don't take it as a temptation

to smoke when you shouldn't, you may as well hang around for the back-and-forth. But take care of

yourself first, of course. Hope to see you on here from time to time, often.

Best of Luck to you Foggy in whatever you decide.

I do agree wholeheartedly with what kashmir is saying also, I have seen my blood pressure actually is averaging lower the before I started on the pipe and backed off the cigs. The pipe helps me to relax and in turn I do believe that helps my blood pressure.

Good wishes to you.

Do what you feel is right for your own health. It isn't pleasant to give up stuff you enjoy, but you do have to make the decision on what you want. Your always welcome here, post away along with us. I am sure there is still wisdom that you can impart to us newbie smokers even if you do not continue smoking.

Thanks guys. The support here is amazing and I sincerely appreciate it. Not smoking (except once a month, outdoors as Kashmir recommends) will be a new adventure. Thankfully I don't have to take up making ships in bottles. My spare time is taken up painting beautiful young women from life, many of whom have become good friends. Whenever I feel like smoking I will place an empty pipe in my mouth and enjoy the aroma.

Yes do what's best in your mind, but if you aren't inhaling, I don't see the problem, unless you're already starting to get mouth cancer. But do what's best for you, you only live once. The effects of nicotine really aren't bad for you, it's just all the stuff that comes with it. It's true though, alot of doctors view smoking as smoking, where I don't think pipe smoking and cigarette smoking are anywhere near the same, especially if you aren't inhaling. Cigarettes have so many added chemicals which I think are worse for you than the tobacco. Of course the tar part isn't good, but in reality, I could give up the pipe anytime if I had to. I'd say just cut down to a few bowls a week. But do what you think is best.

I am sorry I have not been on the forum long enough to get to know you foggy, its kind of funny, because a nickname my friends have for me is fozzy ( after my favorite muppet), well I hope you stick around the forum so you can give me , a new pipe smoker some sagely advice. Maybe you could learn to be a pipe maker?
