I am pretty new to the site but have several pipe styles in my small collection; clay, hand carved, metal and reed, half bent dublin, half bent billiard, demi-churchwarden, Canadian, billiard and just reconditioned what may have opened my eyes. An older Kaywoodie 7740, which I believe is a Lovat style, or close to it? 5” long, saddle stem, lightweight, comfortable, and great smaller sized bowl which I really like. I was worried it was going to be a hot smoke with the shorter stem, but I love it! It appealed to me as soon as I found it in the shop.
I walked around the garden today with that little pipe and of all my pipe styles, I think this is love! I think it will make a great outdoors and camping pipe style, and is so easy to smoke while keeping my hands free during activity’s and slips right into my pocket.
I liked it so much I just ordered two more older London made Lovat “basket” pipes off EvilBay. A few cheaper pipes just in case they get lost in the woods or crushed in my backpack which has been known to happen, but in this new to me style. I can’t wait to get them and see if this style really works out me.
