I joined for support and to vent. Regrettably, I live in Illinois. Even worse, Jay Robert Pritzger is still governor each morning I wake up.

I just tried to order a pipe on Amazon. They wouldn't let me buy it because I have an Illinois address. So which entity is more messed up; the State of Illinois or Amazon?

This isn't a knife. I can order that on Amazon. This isn't a toxic chemical. I can order that on Amazon. This isn't a speed loader for a revolver. I can order that on Amazon too. This is a wood tube attached to a small wooden mortar. Of all the things the Founding Fathers left out of the Constitution, and considering tobacco was a form of currency at the time, I think they were negligent.

I don't mind the complaining about your state of residence. I love visiting there because of relatives and, most importantly, Iwan Ries is there. Great pipe selection which you can fondle and inspect before laying out cash. Much better than mail-order.

You didn't ask for responses but, I gotta ask, "Is someone/something forcing you to stay in Illinois?" You're the only one who can change your circumstances, make your life more bearable. If tobacco is the biggest worry you have in life, consider yourself blessed.

There are more likely better pipes for the money than you can buy from Amazon. Just shop elsewhere. Most vendors wont care where they are shipping a pipe domestically. I realize that doesnt stop it from being irritating.

Also, when you buy a pipe from Amazon you are buying from a product photo. Most other places you can buy the acutal pipe you see. Its possible they did you a favor. I wouldnt order a pipe from Amazon unless its a cob or a sav. Otherwise they are mostly junk brands. I order plenty from Amazon but not pipes.

probably has more to do with taxes or keeping revenue in the state then outside of the state. Though why not try venting to your elected officials honestly every once and while they do listen, long shot but not as long as complaining to us. Make your case for why you should at least be able to get a pipe. Again long shot but as long as you don't go threatening the worst that can happen is end up with a stupid form letter stamped by some poor intern.

and while I might be one of the few people that smoked a pipe as a teen it's harder to regulate who ends up buying the pipe or tobacco online.

We CURRENTLY can get pipes and tobacco in the mail.....also weed, weed seeds, pot pipes....yada, yada.
But NO knives or ammunition unless sent to an FFL so a background check can be done. Woooohooo. Keeping the kids safe.
And I'm not going anywhere!!
I live on my families 600 acre property that we have owned for over 180 years. Fortunately I live on the PA border, so the ammo thing isn't a thing for me....but I still fight for the right to buy ammo.
