Why don't you open that tin of Low Country Cooper I sent to you?? I told you it's a perfect medium English blend. Meaning it has Lat in it.
You know I will do that this weekend. I forgot about what you said. I am going to heavy and fast on the videos and research.

I posted my reaction to it in this thread:
'English Blend for Beginners'
I hope I did not mislead you. EMP was my first ever smoke with Latakia in it. The strong smell of Latakia had me nervous. I am probably sounding wimpy but as a child I tried 3 to 4 times to hang with my older brother chewing or dipping. He and his friend loved the stuff but I always got dizzy and vomited. I now know the smell of tobacco is not always an indicator of strength.

When I first started, I kept hearing about how latakia smoked so much cooler than other blends, and not yet having a handle on cadence, nor breath smoking, I gave some a try. I started with one of the most latakia heavy blends, which quickly turned me off. Then, a while later, I tried Presbyterian, not knowing that it was a latakia blend, because they used the term "Oriental," in describing it. And, I loved it. Then looked for other blends without much latakia, like MCC's Rose of Latakia, GLPs Lombard, Laurel Heights, EMP, stuff with light doses of latakia. Then eventually went to WhiteKnight and other Balkans. But, once I started smoking Virginias, it was tough to smoke a latakia, because my tastes had become more sensitive to it.

I would avoid heavy latakia blends, until you decide to work up to them, or whether this is a genre you'll stick to. Switching back and forth with lighter flavor blends can really tax your taste buds.

I finally manned up and smoked my first Latakia / Oriental blend this morning. Early Morning Pipe.

I know it’s a mild blend but I loved it, loved it. Got me another one in my rotation. That’s 4.

Having a blast and just ordered me some more samples.
Now that you were beguiled by the charm of Lady Latakia, you are no longer a virgin.

No, you didn't mislead me. I had similar experience with chewing tobacco, although without the vomiting. Felt like it once though ?

He's got a tin of Gaslight from 2015 I sent to him. I vote he should smoke it. Especially during this cold spell.
It’s going to happen soon. Just enjoying my EMP and Carter Hall this week. The Autumn Evening Maple keeps calling me also.

If I lived in the States I would be buying Balkan Sasieni by the pound from Cup o Joes. Its the Macedonian leaf that makes it special.
You're the 3rd person who has mentioned this one. I will add it to my 2023 to do list. Too many others I wanna get to in 2022.

You may wish to try Sutliff’s Blend No. 5. It’s only 8 dollars a can or so but has some good depth and nuance. It was the first blend I tried and I found it to be approachable and amazing since I had never smoked Latakia. Now that I have a few chevrons on my shoulder it has not diminished in any way. I still view it as a reliable standby, not even taking the low $/oz into consideration. It is a thinner (shag?) cut than EMB which also makes it easy for the novice to maintain fire. Maybe 1 relight after the initial and you’re set
