I have two of the small sitter type Hunter's pipes - one an estate pipe and one a Mr. Brog. I've smoked the Mr. Brog but not the estate. The one on the left is the estate pipe

I also have this one that I have actually smoked once. I've always wondered what they call this style. I've seen them being smoked in a lot of pre-WWII photos but I have also been told that they were massed produced to sell to occupying U.S. troops and tourists after the war.

We need one of our German pipe smoking friends to educate us on these pipes. I've always called the shorter, sitting pipes as Hunters and the longer pipes with the removable wood or porcelain bowls Bavarian or Tyrolean pipes. What are they really?
