Howdy all!
I started smoking a pipe back in 2003 after inheriting some pipes from my grandfather. Since I really didn’t know anything about smoking a pipe, I struggle through the initial stages of learning until I was able to successfully pack, light and smoke a wonderful bowl of tobacco. I remained a casual pipe smoker for several years.
Like most new pipe smokers, I started trying different types of ‘baccy. I seemed to like aromatic blends and stuck with those. Worked on buying some new pipes and building a “reasonable “ collection.
After retiring from the Army, I began to get back into smoking more! I recently decided to delve into English blends and expand my understanding of the types of tobacco that are used. I have really enjoyed the few English blends I’ve tried so far; started a mason jar cellar too.
I live in the Boise, Idaho area.
I look forward to gleaning knowledge and sharing with other members.

Welcome from Northern NV. I make it a point to stop in at Sturmans every time I'm in Boise.

I have fond memories of my time spent in North Carolina while stationed at Fort Bragg, near Fayetteville from 1980-84. I had a person in my infantry squad from Hickory, NC that would bring home grown and cured twist tobacco that his grandfather had been making for years. It was cured with some molasses and other secret Adjuncts. It was absolutely the best chewing tobacco ever!
One of these days I’ll have to get back to the East Coast and take a tour of some distilleries and local tobacco heritage.

Do you have any decent tobacco shops in Charleston? I would imagine that there are still quite a few pipe smokers in our State Capitol. You know us West Virginians, we smoke to help the black lung go down better. Good to have you with us. There are a lot of good people here.
