Welcome to the forums! I spent almost a year down in Texas. Covered ground from Nacogdoches, down to Galveston and Houston, up to Dallas and down to San Antonio. Had a lot of fun seen a lot of Texas, just not all I wanted to see. The BBQ was good, but still no match for our whole hog Carolina BBQ. The fighting don't stop at just the type and method of cooking. The next fight dusts up over the sauce... Ketchup based, vinegar based, and then there's... Mustard sauce that them down in South Carolina seem to love.
I'm a Texan, remember? Those chiles aren't going to do anything to me but make me want more chiles! :nana:
Gotta get him one of them Carolina Reapers. You'll be sitting in water for a few days after a bite of one of those.

I have a buddy that grows them. Carolina Reapers, Morgan Scorpions, etc. All the devilish peppers. They're a bit spicy

Bit the tail off of one of those Reapers. 8O Too much heat for me. Roasted ghost peppers are great on a steak or in nacho cheese. CB Grape isn't really that bad.

Definitely if you have time stop by the the briar shoppe in Houston. Great selection. They also hand blend pipe tobacco. Its located in rice village. Crofts tobbaco is also another great pipe shop in houston.
