This crack is worse than the picture may show, a good 1/4 around the shank area near the bowl near my thumb in the picture below. I saw reference to using super glue..using a needle applicator? Any recommendations?

Dang. So I need to buy a new pipe? May avoid Savinelli going forward. Not a lot of use on this one..it was for my English blends.

Just out of curiosity, why not repairable?

Well, since you made the decision to toss it anyway; why not play with it first and use it as a learning experience ? Having decided it to toss it would mix some wood filler and wood glue and apply it into the crack, wipe it off, press it together a few minutes, wipe and let dry and see what happens. But thats just me ... 2 cents. You could always band it too.

Don’t want to toss, I prefer to repair if possible! It’s still smokable, for now anyway. It doesn’t really flex, but then again I didn’t force too much. Maybe I’ll try filling with super glue, not sure how to get anything thicker into the crack.

No idea who did this or how, but it works. From the looks of it, I think the shank was completely separated from the bowl. Maybe they glued it together?

A stainless tube mortised into either end and epoxied would fix it. But that means either snapping the shank all the way off or reaming it down the entire length with very long hand reamer. Like this

The ID of the tube needs to match the ID of the draft hole or you’ll create a bottleneck that will make it smoke hot. You will need to enlarge the draft hole to match the OD of the tube. You will also need to chamfered both ends of the ID of the tube.

Use a pin or needle or toothpick to guide it.
