That sort of thing can happen with any pipe. Was it dropped?May avoid Savinelli going forward.
Still being a natural material, it can happen.Nope.
Well, since you made the decision to toss it anyway; why not play with it first and use it as a learning experience ? Having decided it to toss it would mix some wood filler and wood glue and apply it into the crack, wipe it off, press it together a few minutes, wipe and let dry and see what happens. But thats just me ... 2 cents. You could always band it too.Dang. So I need to buy a new pipe? May avoid Savinelli going forward. Not a lot of use on this one..it was for my English blends.
Just out of curiosity, why not repairable?
Yeah!I’m thinking a stainless steel tube inside shank and sealing the crack might at least keep this pipe in service.
Don’t want to toss, I prefer to repair if possible! It’s still smokable, for now anyway. It doesn’t really flex, but then again I didn’t force too much. Maybe I’ll try filling with super glue, not sure how to get anything thicker into the crack.Well, since you made the decision to toss it anyway; why not play with it first and use it as a learning experience ? Thanks. I think…A stainless tube mortised into either end and epoxied would fix it. But that means either snapping the shank all the way off or reaming it down the entire length with very long hand reamer. Like this

The ID of the tube needs to match the ID of the draft hole or you’ll create a bottleneck that will make it smoke hot. You will need to enlarge the draft hole to match the OD of the tube. You will also need to chamfered both ends of the ID of the tube.
Use a pin or needle or toothpick to guide it.Don’t want to toss, I prefer to repair if possible! It’s still smokable, for now anyway. It doesn’t really flex, but then again I didn’t force too much. Maybe I’ll try filling with super glue, not sure how to get anything thicker into the crack.
