My wife is going to be beside her self when I throw my whiskey on the floor of the living room!

I've watched a few other videos recently about how to drink whiskey.

none of them recommends drinking whiskey straight or neat.

40 proof alcohol is too harsh, unless you're Dan Dority.

Vegas Baby!!!
I stopped watching when he said "blended", but his tone was that of a comedic tome.
I like my single malts and bourbon with a little ice.

That's just nuts. Give me some whisky, pour it in a glass, and let me drink it. I won't be stuffing my whole nose into the glass seven times or more (especially in public... I'd look like a dork) or throwing my whisky into the air where it might land on some unsuspecting 300 pound biker, resulting in a bar fight and me getting my ass kicked. Nope.

I've seen this before and I don't take that guy seriously. That is alcohol abuse. I never put water or ice in my single malts. I have been known to chill a glass beforehand. I always have clean, refreshing ice water on the side. My woman sips her scotch, but I almost inhale mine. He's a barbarian.

Do this exactly when you're next gifted a bottle and I promise that you'll get another next year. Oh...and don't throw that wee bit, be sure to serve it to the person that thought socks were a great gift option.

Fun Fact: When the ancient Mayans were too intoxicated to continue drinking, they kept going with an enema. One of several things that will never happen at my house.

Well, that might explain why they were able to "predict the end of the world" but somehow never noticed the Spaniards sneaking up on them.

There are numerous ways to drink whiskey. If I've brought my friend an eighty dollar fifth of single malt, and I'm filled up with beverages and food, and I'm not planning to drive, and he's put the bottle out to share it, I can go with the glow and sip it straight up. If I'm winding down from a long day and am as thirsty for water as I am for whiskey, but I still want "a drink," then a little bourbon with branch water and cubes tastes just fine. Sometimes the best way to drink whiskey is not to. Sniff it like a brandy? Throw it on the floor? Be my guest, but I'll not be joining you.

I prefer my single malts peaty and with a single commercial ice cube, or a sliver of an icecube from home. Ardbeg, Laphroig, and Lagavulin are my favorites.
