I have been at this about a month. After Christmas I will have 8 pipes, Savinelli Caramella 901 ks smooth, and just bought a Butz Choquin "NICE" straight billiard.

I probably purchased about 30 pipes but most were fixer-upers from eBay; some as cheap as $5. It was a labor of love as some turned out rather well, IMHO. Below are some results...

Some great looking pipes guys, really well done. I remember the days of buying and selling 30 plus pipes a year, it was fun.
peck, we all know that you bought at least 50 high end pipes as there is no way you went one whole week without buyung a pipes so 50 is bare minimum. I think you should come clean and just tell everyone that number is probably at least 100, don't be shy.
2015 was actually a good year for me considering my health issues over the last year, I am not sure how many but will figure it out with the following pics.
I am going last to first for the year.
Michael Parks Billiard, estate.

Brian Ruthenberg Apple, estate.

Brian Ruthenberg Billiard, estate.

Brian Ruthenberg Billiard, estate

Rad Davis Billiard, new.

Abe Herbaugh Rhodesian, estate.

That makes five estate and one new so not too bad a year considering.

I had a good year. I bought about 32 pipes and spent about $150. That's more that I planned to spend, but I got some very nice pipes:
Estate Sale:

4 Savinelli's (2 Guibileo D'Oro [one gold band], 1 Roma, 1 Sherwood Rock)

1 Dunhill Shell Briar

1 Linkman's Dr Gabow Supreme

2 Comoy's

1 Vullara Havane

1 Sasieni

1 Longchamp

1 Highland's Tobacco Locker

1 Salur

1 Old England

1 Royal Coachman

1 Tinder Box

1 Stanwell

1 CBP International

1 Canadian Club

1 GBD Virgin

2 No Names

4 EA Carey's (One Italian)
Estate.JPG

Estate2.JPG

e-bay:

La Torre Personal (Ernesto Ossola)

Virgin Bent Billiard

City DeLuxe Rhodesian

Penthouse 1970

2 Wimbledon Authors

1 Wimbledon Bent Billiard
(Yes, it was a very good estate sale). Of the estate pipes the Linkman's and the Salur were pretty bad, and I really don't care for Carey's. A couple need a bit of professional help before I can smoke them. All the others were very good to superb smokers.
The only e-bay disappointment was the "Virgin Bent Billiard" which is just an OK pipe. I had to break my self imposed $20 limit (by $2) to get the La Torre, but I'm glad I did.
Most importantly, I learned a lot about pipes, e. g. I thought I didn't like straight pipes, but what I really didn't like was poorly balanced straight pipes. I thought those big honking free-hands would be unsmokeable, but they're not. Dunhill's are nice pipes, but probably over-hyped. Savinelli's are nice pipes, but probably under-appreciated.

Well, sadly, there was no PAD for me this year... But, i acquired a new D. This year i seriously got inflicted by PMD (Pipe Making Disorder). A bit cheaper, but time consuming. This way i can make myself pipes i like, almost free. :)

A Luciano, which I enjoy very much

scottish-0116-600x448.jpg

A Refbjerg (estate) from the Chicago show

A Dux, which I've only smoked twice, I can't clench the horn stem

And a Dunhill, which might be a 2016 acquisition, but I'm counting it anyway

My oh my! that's a lot of pipes!
My total is:
5 very inexpensive briars

1 low-end Ed Burak/Connoisseur (developed a real taste for these pipes and would have bought 20 more and spent a few thousand if I had the money)

15 cobs

I grabbed a Nate King, a Max Capps (new carver to look out for), a Comoy's Old Bruyere Supreme Patent, a Tim Thorpe (blasting skills have evolved considerably), and not arrived yet a Quagliata from Pipestud, first of '16.

Wow, those are some dozies Sam!
I'm real impressed with the blast work done by Tim Thorpe, he's been posting them on Facebook. I know he's a member of the Philly club, I have to see some of his pipes in person soon! Right now, he's next on my Wish List.
And that Supreme Patent Comoys - fantastic! I don't believe I've seen another with that stamping.

I went a little crazy in 2015 and bought 23 pipes (21 on Ebay, a new Mark Tinsky and one from Briar Blues) None of them cheap bringing my total collection to 63. I had given about 12 pipes to my accountant who has since past away that I may be getting back if his son can find them.
I just came back to pipe smoking after a 20 year hiatus. I quit the hobby/habit in 1994 because I had a brand new house, 2 young children, a wife that HATES pipe smoke and some health issues that made quitting adviseable. The kids are grown, the house no longer new, my health issues under control and my wife is allowing me to smoke in my home office. I closed my business at the end of 2014 and have been working from my home where the lure of my pipe collection sitting on the shelf was too hard to resist. PAD came back with a vengeance but I need to get it under control before I go broke
